كتاب تحليل الأعلاف - مركز الأبحاث كوكو

This document, Bulletin III from the Animal Resources Research Corporation of Sudan, provides a comprehensive analysis of the nutrient composition of various animal feeds available in Sudan from 1982 to 1995. It includes detailed tables categorizing feeds into grasses, legumes, cereals, and other types, along with their nutritional values. The bulletin aims to serve as a resource for students, researchers, and animal feed manufacturers, building on previous publications in the series.

PREFACE

In the previous issues of the series, analytical data of feedstuffs available to the
Central Animal Nutrition Research Laboratory, Kuku, during the period 1977 –
1980 of feeds of Northern and Central Sudan ( Bulletin І) and Southern Sudan(
Bulletin ІІ) were published.
This publication, Bulletin ІІІ, includes, besides the data published in both
previous Bulletins additional data on feeds collected over the years 1982 – 1995
Thus it is intended to be a comprehensive coverage representing the available feed
resources of North, Central and Southern Sudan.
In Bulletin ІІІ the same presentation and tabulation of the data as appeared in the
previous Bulletins adopted. However for practical presentation Grains and seeds
were rearranged into cereals, legumes and oil seeds subgroups.
A glossary including local Arabic names was produces.
We are proud that the previous publications were quite useful to Students,
research scientists, academicians and animal feed manufacturers. We hope that this
Bulletin will be more informative.
We acknowledge, with great appreciation, the diligent and meticulous efforts of
two of our nutritional biochemists, Dr.Yousif Rizgalla Sulieman (B.V.S. M, M.Sc.,
and Ph.D.) and Mrs. Afaf Abdel Rahim Mabrouk (B. Sc., M. Sc.,) for supervising
the analysis of the feeds and compiling the material for this Bulletin.
We are also grateful to Professor Faisal Awad Ahmed, The Director General
Animal Resources Research Corporation for this keen interest and encouragement
to see this effort in print.

Professor, Omer Abdel Rahim El Khidir,

Director, Animal Production Research Centre,
Kuku.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The authors wish to express their sincere and deep indebtedness to all the
laboratory staff for their continuous and active enthusiasm in analysis of feed
material published in this bulletin and those who also assisted in reproduction of
the data to mention in particular.
Fatima Abdalla El humodi, former chief technician of laboratory and senior
technicians.
Souad Gaafar Beitake.
Salwa Mohamed El Amin.
Faiyza Adam El Jalabi.
And last not least, Thuria Mustafa Mohamed, the secretary who tyed the bulletin
draft.
Wealso faithfully appreciate the remarkable help given by Salah Eldin Ahmed,
Mohamed the computer programmer who actually organized and produced the
bulletin in this final form.
To the uncountable persons in Kuku and elsewhere who encouraged or came
frequently asking in expectation of the new bulletin, to whom weare thankful indeed.
TABLES OF FEED COMOSITION

The following tables show the nutrient composition of different types of animal
feeds as determined by proximate analysis, minerals content, in vitro digestibility
value, gross energy and Metabolizable energy values.
Metric (SI) units have been used throughout the tables. Nutrient composition is
given as g/Kh (or mh/kg) for feed on as received and dry matter basis.
Metabolizable energy values are expressed as MJ/kg and are calculated from
proximate analysis values using the equations given in Appendix I.
The following Abbreviations are used;

FORMULATION OF PRODUCTION RATION

The following tables show generalized feed formula for the production of
compound for cattle and poultry.
It has been found that under practical farming conditions these rations can support
a high rate of production, provided that reliable vitamin/mineral supplement is
incorporated into the ration and management is good.
Local Kenana, Butana and Western Baggara respond well to the cattle rations
which are also suitable for exotic (Friesian, Hereford) F1 crosses.
The poultry rations are designed for hybrid layer breeds kept under semi-intensive
conditions in open –sided housing.

APPENDIX І
Calculation of Metabolizable Energy Values

Calculated ME values of the feeds for ruminants and/or poultry have been included
in the tables where appropriate. The limitations of this procedure should be kept in
mind when using these values. The values indicated in this issues were those listed
in previous editions of the bulletin.
Metabolizable Energy for ruminants, ME(R)
Different equations were used for different types of materials as follows :-
a) For forage etc.
ME(R) = DOMD % × 0.16
b) For hays and other roughages
ME(R) = DOMD % × 0.15
c) For other materials generalised Rostock equation given in Technical Bulletin
33 – Energy Allowances and Feeding systems for Ruminants ( Appendix І)
ME(R) = 0.012 CP + 0.031 EE + 0.005 CF + 0.014 NFE
Using the analyses expressed as g/kg DM gives ME(E) direct as MJ/kg DM.
Metabolizable Energy Values for poultry, ME(P)
These have been calculated from the equation of Lodhi, Singh and Ichponani, J.
agric. Sci., Camb., 86, 293-303. Available carbohydrate in this equation is assumed
to be 80% of the found NFE value. The equation thus becomes :-
ME(P) = 1.549 + 0.0102 CP + 0.0275 Oil + 0.0148 NFE – 0.0034 Fibre.
