Micro Project Proposal (Annexure-I)
Title Of Micro Project : OPTICAL SWITCHES
Aim/Benefits of Micro Project: By controlling the connection paths and directing the flow of data,
optical switches enhance the performance, capacity, and flexibility of optical communication networks.
Course Outcomes Addressed: Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of optical
switches, including light propagation, waveguides, and optical components.
Proposed Methodology: The course should be divided into modules, each focusing on different aspects of
optical switching. Each module would include a combination of lectures, discussions, hands-on labs,
assignments, and assessments.
1. Research and Data Collection: Understanding the latest technologies in optical switches (e.g.,
MEMS-based, liquid-crystal, thermo-optic).
