BCS Syllabus: Preliminary and

Written
This post is about BCS syllabus (https://www.bcsstudy.com/bcs-syllabus/) of
both preliminary and written exam. BCS syllabus are given by Bangladesh public
service commission (BPSC). BPSC is quasi judicial constitutional body
established in 1972. The commission is responsible for the recruitment of civil
service servants in Bangladesh government. BCS exam has three parts:

1. First part is preliminary examination in 200 Marks.

2. Second part is written exam in 900 Marks.
3. Third part is viva.

Preliminary and written exam has different syllabus. Also different examination
type like, preliminary, written and viva. Preliminary is MCQ type examination and
written is fully written type examination. Please follow bellows both BCS

Total mark of preliminary examination is 200 and ten part of BCS preliminary

Definition of Values and Good Governance;

Relation between Values and Good Governance; General Perception of Values

and Good Governance:

Importance of Values and Good Governance in the life of an individual as a

citizen as well as in the making of society and national ideals; Impact of Values
and Good Governance in national development; How the element of Good
Governance and Values can be established in society in a given social context;
The benefit of Values and Good Governance and the cost society pays
adversely in their absence.

Power and Security: power, national power, balance of power, disarmament,

arms control, geopolitics, terrorism
Major Ideas and Ideologies: Nationalism, imperialism, colonialism, neo-
colonialism, post-modernism, globalization and new world order

Foreign policy and Diplomacy: concepts of foreign policy and diplomacy,

decision-making process, determinants of foreign policy, diplomatic functions,
immunities, and privileges

International Economic Relations: International trade, free trade, protectionism,

foreign aid, debt crisis, foreign direct investment (FDI), financial liberalization,
regionalism, regionalization, North-South gap, global poverty, MDGs

Global Environment: Environmental issues challenges, climate change, global

warming, climate adaptation, climate diplomacy.
