WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS: MANGANESE PLANT SHUTDOWN AND

MASHASHANE MAINTENANCE

Polokwane Municipality hereby informs all stakeholders of two important updates affecting
water supply in certain areas:

1. Emergency Shutdown – Manganese Plant

A leak has been detected in the chamber of the manganese rising main line,
necessitating an emergency shutdown of the Manganese Plant. The municipality’s
technical team is currently on-site attending to the issue in order to restore operations
as swiftly as possible with estimated repair duration of 3 - 4 hours (subject to
change based on the extent of the leak).

Affected areas include Ladanna, Emdo, Mahlasedi Park, parts of the CBD, lower parts
of Nirvana, Mahlako a Phaahla and Moregloed.

2. Ongoing Maintenance - Mashashane Water Treatment Plant

Work is currently underway at the Mashashane Water Treatment Plant for the
replacement of sand filter media. This critical maintenance, which resumed last
night, is expected to take some time.

As a result, residents in the Mashashane area may experience water shortages

starting today. The municipality will be monitoring the situation closely and will provide
temporary relief measures where necessary.

Polokwane Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused. Further updates will be
issued as work progresses.

Customers are encouraged to download and utilise MyPolokwane Citizen App to report
water and sanitation issues OR dedicated Water and Sanitation Helpline at 015 290 2376
OR send WhatsApp to 068 290 8736 for a prompt response from the municipality.

End!
