Wind Load Calculation for the Elevated Horizontal Pipe of (CPS-00041)

Wind Load as per ASCE 7-22

Basic Wind Speed V = 41.00 m/s (Clause 1.8 of Design basis)

Occupancy Category = III (Table 1.5-1 of ASCE 7-22)
Exposure Category = C (Table 26.10-1 of ASCE 7-22)
Topography Factor Kzt = 1.00 (Clause 26.8.2 of ASCE 7-22)
Gust Effect Factor G = 0.85 (Clause 26.11.1 of ASCE 7-22)
Ground Elevation Factor Ke = 1.00 (For All Cases) (Table 26.9-1 of ASCE 7-22)

Wind Directionality Factor Kd = 0.85 (For MWFRS) (Table 26.6-1 of ASCE 7-22)

Velocity Pressure, qz, evaluated at height z shall be calculated by the following equation:
2
qz = 0.613 x Kz x Kztx Ke x V ( N/m2) (Eq.26.10-1 of ASCE 7-22)
where Kz = Velocity Pressure Exposure Coefficients which varies as per Height and exposure Category

The Design Wind Load for the elevated Pipe is determined by the following formula :
(Clause 29.4 of ASCE 7-22)
F = qz x Kd x G x Cf x Af (kN) (Eq 29.4-1 of ASCE 7-22)
Where
qz = Velocity pressure evaluated at height z of the centroid of Area Af
Kd = Wind Directionality Factor
G = Gust Effect Factor
Cf = Force Coefficient = 0.70 (Un-insulated pipe) (Clause 4.4.8.of Design basis)
2
Af = Projected area Normal to the Wind, m = Dia (pipe) x L m² (L = Tributary Length)

Dia of pipe = 20 INCH (NOT LESS THAN 0.25m) (Clause 4.4.8.of Design basis)

Supported Pipes SINGLE

Outside Diameter of The Pipe = 0.508 m

For L = 11.5 m
Height= 0.745 m
qz= 0.88 (kN/m2)

Design Wind lateral Force = 2.59 kN
