INTRODUCTION
Ghumantu Pathshala OR "Nomadic School" refers
to initiatives in India that provide education to
children who wouldn't normally have access to it.
Viksit Bharat @2047 is the vision to make India a
developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of
independence. The vision encompasses various
aspects of development, including economic
growth, social progress, environmental
sustainability, and good governance. Education is
one of the important aspects which can be
accomplished by “GHUMANTHU PATHSHALA”.
METHODOLOGY
Identify communities of nomadic or wandering children and establish contact with them. This may
involve working closely with local authorities, community leaders, and NGOs familiar with these
communities.
Build trust and rapport with the children by understanding their culture, traditions, and specific needs.
Engage community members in the planning process to ensure their active participation and
ownership of the educational initiative.
Conduct awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of education and the benefits it can bring to
children's lives. Address any cultural or social barriers that may hinder children from attending school
regularly.
Encourage parental involvement in their children's education by organizing workshops, meetings, and
other activities that promote parental support and participation.
ACTIVITIES
UNDERTAKEN
I Organized outreach programs to raise awareness about the
importance of education among parents and children. Provide
information about available educational resources and support
services.
I Addressed health and nutrition needs by providing information about
how to access to healthcare services, nutritious meals, and hygiene
education, as poor health and malnutrition can hinder children's
ability to learn effectively.
Regularly assess the effectiveness of education promotion activities
through monitoring and evaluation, seeking feedback from children,
parents, and community members to identify areas for improvement
and ensure that interventions are achieving desired outcomes.
I showed some informational videos regarding importance of
education.

REASONS FOR LACK OF
EDUCATION
Poverty: Families living in poverty may struggle to afford basic
necessities, including school fees, uniforms, books, and
transportation. As a result, children may be kept out of school to
work or help with household responsibilities.
Lack of Access: In some areas, particularly rural or remote
regions, schools may be scarce or located far from children's
homes. Poor infrastructure, such as lack of roads or transportation
options, can further hinder access to education.
Child Labor: In many parts of the world, children are forced to work
to contribute to family income. They may be engaged in agriculture,
domestic work, or other forms of labor, which leaves little time or
energy for attending school.
Gender Inequality: Cultural norms and traditions may prioritize boys' education over girls',
leading to disparities in access to schooling. Girls may be expected to stay at home to help with
household chores or care for younger siblings, limiting their educational opportunities.
Conflict and Displacement: Children living in conflict-affected areas or refugee camps may
face disruptions to their education due to violence, displacement, and destruction of schools.
Many children are forced to flee their homes, making it difficult to access schools or continue
their education.
Discrimination and Marginalization: Children belonging to marginalized groups, such as
ethnic minorities, indigenous communities, or children with disabilities, may face discrimination
and exclusion from mainstream education systems.
Quality of Education: Even when schools are accessible, the quality of education may be
inadequate, with overcrowded classrooms, poorly trained teachers, lack of instructional
materials, and outdated curriculum. This can demotivate children and their families from
prioritizing education.
Health Issues: Children suffering from health problems, such as malnutrition, illness, or
disabilities, may be unable to attend school regularly or may face stigma and discrimination
from peers and teachers.
WAYS TO SUPPORT
UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
Tutor underprivileged students
You can support underprivileged students in your area by providing them with tuition for
various subjects. You can tutor children in writing, reading, calculations, current affairs, and
more. Many children NGOs are also providing tuition for them where you can volunteer or donate
money. You can also arrange a small facility in your own home where children can come
and learn.
Sponsor a child education
Nothing feels more exciting than a smile on the faces of children. You can sponsor the
education of one or more children depending on your financial position. Your small
contributions could help one child pay for school, books, and other necessities. You can
also support NGOs or any other organizations that are funding the education of poor
children. This will help passionate children to fulfill their dreams. A well-educated youth is
the wealth of the country who can lead the nation towards progress.
Donate to a children’s NGO
There is no better feeling than being a reason for the happiness of others. You can
make donations to NGOs for children from the comfort of your home or office. These
NGOs are involved in infrastructural development, improving facilities like libraries,
forming groups of teachers, and more. NGOs like Annamrita are providing food to
children under the mid-day meal scheme. Your donations for poor child education would facilitate
these NGOs to improve their services.
Start a training unit
If you are good at any specific vocational skills such as stitching or craft making, start a
small unit where children can come and learn these skills. One of the reasons why
children from backward communities stay away from education is a lack of money.
They prefer to engage in work rather than attending schools as meal is the priority over
education. But if you could train children with some professional skills it would be an
added benefit for them to make an earning. So vocational training helps to educate
children as well as provide them with better job opportunities.
