First Term Test of English

Read the text and do the following activities.

Computers are very clever electronic machines. They are very useful in our daily life. First because they can
solve millions of problems and store large amounts of information very quickly. Second, they can also support
much information in the form of letters, drawings, numbers and figures. Their ability to store and execute lists of
instructions, which are called programs, made them very famous and distinguished.
Nowadays, computers are replacing man in many fields. They are used for many various kinds of work in
offices, banks, hospitals and universities. Today, simple computers are small enough to fit into a car, in digital
cameras, in robots and children’s toys. As they are becoming cheaper and smaller, their use is getting more and
more widespread. However a lot of people are afraid of computers because they think that one day computers will
take over the world from man and they will dominate the human species.
