1 Over 7.5 billion people live in the world, and with that type of number comes
handfuls of different clothing styles. Each culture has its own set of traditional clothing
these clothes are of different shapes and styles, for example, Sari, Gakti, Lederhosen
and kimono.
Sari:
2 The sari is often connected to India and people of the Indus Valley region. It
is one of the oldest surviving garments. It goes back nearly 5,000 years. It is a long
piece of cloth from five to nine yards long. Saris are worn by women, and the fabric has
no sewing on it. The fabric covers a woman's body starting at the waist and ending over
a shoulder. It is made of cotton or silk.
Kimono:
3 The Japanese have worn kimono for thousands of years. A kimono is a
dress, worn by men and women, and it is wrapped around the body, and it is tied with a
type of belt called an obi. Kimono can be worn for everyday wear, but they are expected
to be worn for important events and ceremonies. It is made of Silk and linen
Lederhosen:
4 In Europe, lederhosen are similar to North America's overalls. They were
worn in Austria, Northern Italy, and Bavaria in Germany. Lederhosen were often worn
for horseback riding, performing hard job. After the nineteenth century, they became
more popular and were used for everyday wear.
Gakti:
5 Gakti is the traditional dress of the Sami people, who are from Scandinavia.
Modern countries such as Finland, Russia, Sweden, and Norway. For women, Gakti
includes boots, a skirt, a top, and a cape. For men, it is boots, a tunic, and pants. The
clothing is worn for special events such as gathering their animals and other outdoor
work. Gakti is made of animal hides and fur.
6 Overall, wearing traditional clothes is as important as national flag since they
help people remember their culture, heritage and identity.
