LEADERSHIP AND ACTIVITY DISTINCTION AWARDS

As Revised and adopted by the Committee on Awards,


53rd Commencement Exercises, July 18, 2023

A. Activity Awards

1. Journalism

2. Athletics (one male, one female)

3. Music (one Vocal, one Instrumental)

4. Dramatics (1 Male and 1 female)

5. Sikap

6. Debate

7. Dance (1 male and 1 female)

8. Outstanding Performing Peer Award (OPPA)- awarded by OGC

Minimum requirements applicable to all categories

The nominee must:

1. Have a three-year residence for a 4-year course.


2. Carry a regular load as prescribed in their program of study or
curriculum.

3. Have a general weighted average grade of 2.75 or better in all subjects


taken at MSU-IIT, excluding NSTP, ROTC, and PE.

5. Be a full-time student and have completed the degree within the


prescribed period or not more than one semester beyond the prescribed
period.

4. Have not been adjudged guilty of any offense requiring disciplinary


action as certified by the Co-Chairman of the Student Disciplinary
Board.

5. For the Sikap award, the applicant must have been a working student
during their entire stay at MSU-IIT, as certified by the OSDS Director
if the applicant is a student assistant or by the head of the
household/employer where the nominee lived/worked as a working
student.
6. Be of good moral standing, as certified by the OSDS Director.

7. Submit documents on time to their respective College Assistant deans,


which will include:

a. letter of intent
b. certificates of attendance/participation
c. Special Orders,
d. and other documents to prove their claims for the award/s
applied for.

8. The nominee shall be evaluated only in the category in which he or she


applied.

9. All applications must be submitted at the college level.

B. University Student Leadership Award, or USLA ( Adopted from


MSU Marawi)

The nominee must:

1. Be an elected officer of a University-wide student organization duly


recognized by the OSDS. For the KASAMA, they must be an elected
Governor, Senator, KASAMA Vice-President, or KASAMA
President .

3. Carry a regular load as prescribed in their program of study or


curriculum.

3. Have a three-year residence for a 4-year course.

4. Have a general weighted average grade of 2.75 or better in all subjects


taken at MSU-IIT, excluding NSTP, ROTC, and PE.

5. Be a full-time student and have completed the degree or diploma within


the prescribed period or not more than one semester beyond the
prescribed period.

6. Not adjudged guilty of any offense requiring disciplinary action as


certified by the Co-Chairman of the Student Disciplinary Board.

7. Be of good moral standing as certified by the OSDS Director

C. College Leadership Award

The nominee must:


1. Be an elected officer of a college-or department-based student
organization duly recognized by the OSDS.

2. Carry a regular load as prescribed in their program of study or


curriculum.

3. Have a three-year residence for a 4-year course.

4. Have a general weighted average grade of 2.75 or better in all subjects


taken at MSU-IIT, excluding NSTP/ROTC and P.E.

5. Be a full-time student and have completed the degree or diploma within


the prescribed period or not more than one semester beyond the
prescribed period.

6. Not adjudged guilty of any offense requiring disciplinary action as


certified by the Co-Chairman of the Student Disciplinary Board.

7. Be of good moral standing, as certified by the OSDS Director.

D. Dance, Music, Athletics, Debate, and Dramatics Awards

The nominee must:

1. Have a three-year residence for a 4-year course.


2. Carry a regular load as prescribed in their program of study or
curriculum.

3. Have a general weighted average grade of 2.75 or better in all subjects


taken at MSU-IIT, excluding NSTP, ROTC, and P.E.

5. Be a full-time student and have completed the degree within the


prescribed period or not more than one semester beyond the prescribed
period.

4. Have not been adjudged guilty of any offense requiring disciplinary


action as certified by the Co-Chairman of the Student Disciplinary
Board.

5. Be of good moral standing as certified by the OSDS Director.

6. The nominee must have at least one performance every semester for at
least 2 years to qualify for an award in these categories.

7. The nominee shall be evaluated only in the category in which he or she


applied.

Procedure of Nomination

1. Nominations are open to all graduating students and may be made in


writing by a duly recognized student organization, student(s), faculty
or staff adviser, Resident Cultural Group Director, Coach, or program
adviser.

2. Nominations are forwarded to the College Assistant Dean or Assistant


Director.

3. Preliminary screening and evaluation will be done at the college or


school level. The deadline of all applications will be on January 17,
2024

4. Supporting documents and papers, including the organization’s


activities and achievements as certified by its Organization Secretary
and concurred in by the faculty/staff adviser, Resident Cultural Group
Directors, coaches/ Sports Director, in the case of nominees vying for
the College and/or University awards, shall be attached to the
nomination.

5. Submit supporting documents for achievements claimed and


membership in local, regional, national, and international
organizations.
