Please follow these guidelines when writing defect reports:

1. Provide a meaningful title

2. Provide the following information in the Repro Steps box:

a. Provide a short summary of the problem

b. If required list any preconditions

c. Provide the steps required to reproduce the problem

d. Ensure that the steps are numbered

e. Within the test steps:

 Bold any button names

 Bold any menu item names

 Bold any card names

 Bold any action or label that is important to the tester

 When listing options to select, or providing a list of items, always use a


bullet-list instead of putting everything in one line

 Use the pipe symbol “|” when you want the user to click on a sub-
menu item in a drop-down
Not correct: Click on the Manage dropdown and select the
Participants option
Correct: Click on Manage | Participants

3. Describe the "Actual Results"

4. Describe the "Expected Results"

5. If needed, attach any screenshots, log files, or recorded videos to the


defect report

6. Click on the Follow button, this way you will be notified when there are
changes to the defect report

7. Assign the defect report to the product owner

8. Click Save and Close

Remember other team members must be able to reproduce the problem,


therefore it is important to provide sufficient information, keep your steps
clear and concise.
If a defect is not reproducible, the defect report must be assigned back to the
original author or a member of the QA team to confirm and close the report.

Always leave a comment before you close any defect report.
