Bumper Sticker Project

1. All bumper stickers must be historically accurate


2. Students must remain faithful to the historical record of the period under discussion, but
they may base their bumper sticker on contemporary models
3. Bumper stickers may not be offensive in nature. They not contain profanity, nor may
denigrate a person or a group of people
4. The bumper stickers must be on 11” x 3” piece of poster board or card stock, reflecting
the approximate size of real stickers
1. I will not accept a poster on regular paper
5. Students must use color

100%-90% This grade is assigned when the work is superior. All instructions for the activity
have been followed and the student demonstrates mastery of the person or event
or event being studied. The bumper sticker is neatly produced and in color or the
student has used images from Clip Art, or some other such software package, or
has downloaded images off the Net. The phrase or statement on the bumper
sticker clearly is related to the topic in a proper historical context. The paragraphs
adhere to the proper writing style and have no grammatical errors. The writing
also is complete in supporting the message of the bumper sticker. Proper citation
is used.

89%-80% This grade is assigned when work is good. Most instructions for the activity have
been followed and the student demonstrates understanding of the person or event
being studied. The bumper sticker is neatly produced and in color. The phrase or
statement on the bumper sticker clearly relates to the topic in a proper historical
context. The paragraphs adhere to the proper writing style and have 1-2
grammatical errors. The writing is missing some factual information that could be
used to support the message of the bumper sticker. Proper citation is used.

79%-70% This grade is assigned when the work is average. Instructions for the activity have
not been totally completed. The product demonstrates a weak interpretation of the
person or event. The bumper sticker is in pencil. Little imagination is evident and
the product represents a laissez-faire approach to the assignment. The paragraphs
somewhat adhere to the proper writing style and have more than 2 grammatical
errors. The writing is missing several key pieces of information and there are
some inaccuracies that do not help support the message of the bumper sticker.
Proper citation is used

69%-below This grade is assigned when work is very poor. Instructions have not been
followed. The student demonstrates very little thought, reflection, or imagination. The bumper
sticker is sloppy, messy, or poorly conceived. The paragraphs do not adhere to the proper writing
style and have more than 4 grammatical errors. The writing is incomplete and inaccurate and
does not support the message of the bumper sticker. Improper citation is used
