SSC CGL Syllabus

Indicative Syllabus (Tier-I):

General Intelligence & Reasoning: The reasoning section includes both verbal and non-verbal
questions. Topics covered are analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial
orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, and
classification. Additional topics include coding and decoding, syllogistic reasoning, statement
conclusion, figural patterns, arithmetic number series, word building, emotional intelligence, and
social intelligence.

General Awareness: This section tests the candidate's awareness of their environment and
society. The questions are designed to cover current events, everyday scientific knowledge, and
topics related to India and its neighboring countries. The section includes History, Culture,
Geography, Economic Scene, and General Policy, along with scientific research.

Quantitative Aptitude: The quantitative section covers computation, number systems,


percentage, ratio & proportion, square roots, averages, interest, profit and loss, and basic
algebra. Geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, statistics, and probability are also included.
Topics like graphs of linear equations, bar diagrams, histograms, and pie charts are tested as
well.

English Comprehension: This section evaluates the candidate’s proficiency in understanding


English. Questions cover vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and reading
comprehension. The candidate’s ability to understand and interpret English passages is tested.

Indicative Syllabus (Tier-II)

Mathematical Abilities (Module-I, Session-I): Topics include computation of whole numbers,


decimals, and fractions. It covers percentages, ratio & proportion, square roots, averages, profit
& loss, time & work, time & distance, and basic algebraic identities. Geometry topics such as
triangles, circles, and tangents, and mensuration topics like prisms, cones, and spheres are
tested. Trigonometry, statistics, and probability are also part of the syllabus.

Reasoning and General Intelligence (Module-II, Section-I): The reasoning section involves
questions on verbal and non-verbal reasoning, including analogy, classification, number and
figural series, coding and decoding, and critical thinking. Topics like word building, emotional
intelligence, space orientation, and pattern folding are also included.
English Language and Comprehension (Module-I, Section-II): Topics include vocabulary,
grammar, and sentence structure. Questions focus on spotting errors, sentence improvement,
active and passive voice, narration, and comprehension passages. Reading comprehension,
idioms and phrases, and one-word substitutions are tested.

General Awareness (Module-II, Section-II): This section tests the candidates' general
awareness, with questions on history, geography, economics, culture, and scientific research.
Special focus is on India and its neighboring countries.

Computer Proficiency (Module-I, Section-III): This section includes basic knowledge of


computer organization, MS Office, web browsing, email management, and networking
fundamentals. Candidates are tested on cybersecurity basics and computer memory
organization.

Statistics (Paper-II): The statistics section covers data collection, measures of central
tendency, measures of dispersion, correlation and regression, probability, random variables,
sampling theory, and time series analysis. Topics also include index numbers and the analysis
of variance.
