➢ Understanding the personality and the ministry of the Holy Spirit to the
Church.
INTRODUCTION
One subject matters a lot of church folks have not really taken time to study on and
consciously walk in, which is truly for their benefit, is the subject of the Holy Spirit.
We desire to learn more about the Holy Spirit and come to the place that we are
growing in our knowledge of Him and our walking with him, so that we can come
into the fullness of all God has for us as His children.
Let’s consider some scriptures briefly
Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for
if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send
him unto you.
Jesus our Lord said it is expedient or important that I go way so that the Holy
Spirit or the comforter can come.
We see that from the words of Jesus, there are a lot of things we will never
know about Jesus, except the Holy Spirit comes and reveals them to us
Jesus said sending the Holy Spirit to the church is very much important.
So, if Jesus said sending the Holy Spirit is important for us the church, do we
think it benefits us not to learn of him or even get to know him more?
NOTE:
❖ We can never know or enter God’s fullness for us except by the Holy Spirit.
❖ The Holy Ghost is God’s promise to the church as a seal and guarantee that
everything Jesus promised us, we can enter into them.
❖ Eternal on this earth is absolutely impossible without the Holy Spirit living in
us and through us. The God kind of life is now possible for the believer to live
on the earth because the Holy Spirit works in us both to will and do of God’s
good pleasure.
❖ God’s only way to communicate to man, so that man can understand him in
this earth realm is by the help of the Holy Spirit.
So, we will be looking at some ministries or assignment the Holy Spirit is on earth
to do for the believer.
1. The Holy Spirit Reveals
Joh 16: 4 – 15
Joh 16:4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may
remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the
beginning, because I was with you.
Joh 16:5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me,
Whither goest thou?
Joh 16:6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your
heart.
Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for
if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send
him unto you.
Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of
righteousness, and of judgment:
Joh 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Joh 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
Joh 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Joh 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all
truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he
speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Joh 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto
you.
Joh 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall
take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
1 Corin 2 7 -12
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom,
which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
1Co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they
would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered
into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth
all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which
is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is
of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Eph 3:2-5 ERV
Eph 3:2 Surely you know that God gave me this work through his grace to help
you.
Eph 3:3 God let me know his secret plan by showing it to me. I have already
written a little about this.
Eph 3:4 And if you read what I wrote, you can see that I understand the secret
truth about Christ.
Eph 3:5 People who lived in other times were not told that secret truth. But now,
through the Spirit, God has made it known to his holy apostles and prophets.
➢ The Holy Spirit reveals secret truths to the holy apostles and prophets, also
to every child of God.
➢ He is the revealer of secret truths. Through the Holy Spirit, God reveals his
plans to us.
➢ Secret truths are the truths the Lord had kept hidden to the creatures, to
principalities, to powers etc. these truths exist but only in God or to God. But
God chooses to reveal these truths to his holy people.
➢ The Holy Spirit is the custodian of God’s secret plan and he reveals this plans
to God’s holy people, like Paul.
➢ God does not want his children to walk on this earth confused and not
knowing what to do or what steps to take, so he gave us the Holy Spirit so
that at every time we have the one who is responsible to revealing God’s
plan for our lives on the earth.
KEY NOTE:
➢ God does not intend that any of His child should walk in the dark on the
earth.
➢ One of the task or ministries of the Holy Spirit is to reveal the heart and plan
of God to the church on the earth.
➢ When we lack revelation from God, we will easily enter the traps of the
enemy for us.
➢ We can never enter the fullness of God’s plan, purpose and provision for us
until the Holy Spirit reveals these things to us.
➢ One of the plots of the enemy is to keep us away from knowing what God is
saying to us per time and in every season of our lives.
➢ Having a clear light of God’s plan and purpose for our lives will give us strong
confidence to move ahead even in the face of deep challenges.
Holy Spirit reveals:
1. The plans of God for an individual’s life, family, business, marriage etc.
2. The plots or schemes of the enemy against the child of God.
3. The solutions to complex problem a child of God is facing in life.
4. The strategy and steps to take when it seems confusing.
5. The promises of God for the child of God to be able approach the Father
with such confidence of faith in the place of prayer.
6. Things concerning other people he wants you to stand in for either to pray
about the matters or deliver the messages to them. This may be to comfort
them, encourage them, edify them or warn them of dangers ahead.
Holy Spirit Reveals in your spirit.
For the believer to be able to pick the revealing of the Holy Spirit, we must
be able to master or train our spirt man.
The holy Spirit will always communicate the plans and purpose of God to us
in our human spirit. So to be able to know these things that the Holy Spirit,
we must learn to live from our spirit and not from our senses.
One challenge we will have to walk in the Holy Spirit from our human spirit,
is when we walk by our senses.
Now many believers have only known the walk in their senses and not their
spirit. When you walk by your senses, you will miss the speaking and leading
of the Spirit.
Know that God want to communicate with you over everything by His Holy
Spirit, and it is your own human spirit that is designed to pick the signals
from the Holy Spirit. This is why you must
i. Train your human spirit
ii. Become more conscious of your spirit than your flesh or sense.
iii. Deliberately deny your flesh its pleasure and do only the things that
will edify your spirit man.
How to develop your spirit;
1. Spend in prayer
2. Spend in the word of God
3. Spend time ministering to the Lord long enough for your spirit to be quiet
PRAYER FOCUS
1. Father, by your Holy Spirit, please open my eyes and reveal to me every
opportunities and treasures you have positioned around me in the name of
Jesus.
2. Father, like Gideon, open my eyes to begin to see the greatness you have put
inside of me and may I not look down on the person you have created me to
become in the name of Jesus.
3. Father like Cyrus, anoints me to bring deliverance to families, to nations, and
to generations in the name of Jesus
4. Father like Peter, you release your grace upon my life to have a great catch
(of results) in all that I do this week in Jesus name

2. The Holy Spirit Empowers the believer for Exploit
Eph 3:16KJV That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be
strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph 3:16 ERV I ask the Father with his great glory to give you the power to be
strong in your spirits. He will give you that strength through his Spirit.
Eph 3:16GNB I ask God from the wealth of his glory to give you power through his
Spirit to be strong in your inner selves,
Eph 3:16 TPT And I pray that he would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his
glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his
divine might and explosive power.
NOTE
❖ God grants us power or strength in our spirit man or inner man by His own
Holy Spirit.
❖ We want to learn why God strengthens us or gives us power in our inner
man.
Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD
unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the
LORD of hosts.
Zec 4:7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a
plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace,
grace unto it.
❖ The word of the Lord to Zerubbabel is: not by power or might but by my
Spirit.
❖ We must come to understand that there are lot of kingdom project that God
wants to carry out on the earth, in families, nations etc., and He will require
his own children to undertake such projects and task.
❖ God will never call a man to a task and then depend on the man’s strength
to carry out that task. God calls, and God empowers by his spirit, the man
that he calls
❖ The success of the believer as it is designed by God is tied to the working of
the Holy Spirit in the believer.
3. The Holy Spirit Leads the believer
Luk 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led
by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
❖ Another major work of the Holy Spirit is to lead the believer in life.
❖ One benefit of the Holy Spirit to the believer is that the believer will be lead
to do everything he does in accordance to the Father’s will. So, we need not
worry about what we do, as long as we allow ourselves to be lead by the
Holy Spirit.
❖ This is how Jesus puts it:
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all
truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he
speak: and he will shew you things to come.
❖ The Holy Ghost will guide us into all truths
4. The Holy Spirit grants the believer access into truth.
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all
truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he
speak: and he will shew you things to come.
❖ What is truth in any matter?
❖ Truth us the will and the heart of God over a particular matter in that very
moment.
❖ What God is saying presently over a matter is truth.
❖ So, with the Holy Spirit, the believer comes to know per time, what does
sayeth the Lord, over current situation of their lives.
5. The Holy Spirit comforts the believer
Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter,
that he may abide with you forever;
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it
seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with
you, and shall be in you.
Joh 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
❖ the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of comfort for the believer.
❖ Jesus promised to send the comforter, because he know that from time to
time, the believer would need comfort.
PRAYER FOCUS
1. Father anoints me with a great measure of your anointing that I may begin
to do mighty things for you this season in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, this week you position me for greatness. My life attracts great things
and great people in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, because you have blessed me with spiritual blessings in heavenly
places, I therefore declare you blessing in all that I do this season in the
name of Jesus.
4. Father, let there be unexplainable miracles released in my life this week in
the name of Jesus.
