Object Detection-Based Animal Alert System Using Sound Frequencies for

Accident Prevention and Wildlife Safety

ABSTRACT
Conflicts between humans and wildlife in farming and forest areas create significant
challenges, including crop damage, risks to animals, and threats to biodiversity. Additionally,
animal intrusions near roads and fields increase the risk of accidents, posing dangers to both
people and wildlife. Traditional solutions, such as fences or harmful deterrents, often disrupt
the environment or prove ineffective. To address these challenges, we propose a novel solution
called the Object Detection-Based Animal Alert System Using Sound Frequencies for Accident
Prevention and Wildlife Safety. This system, built on the ESP32-CAM platform and powered
by the YOLOv8 deep learning model, detects animals in real-time and emits specific sound
frequencies to safely encourage them to leave the area. The system features two operational
modes: an automatic mode that identifies the animal species and selects the optimal sound
frequency to deter it, and a manual mode that allows users to customize settings for specific
animals. This flexibility makes the system adaptable to various scenarios, such as crop
protection or warning against roadside animal presence. By integrating artificial intelligence,
the Internet of Things (IoT), and bioacoustic technology, the system offers an eco-friendly, non-
invasive approach to promoting safe human-wildlife interactions, preventing accidents and
maintaining a balanced ecosystem.
