Essay Questions
Answer all questions in this section. Each question carries 20 marks. Write your
answer in an essay form in the spaces provided. Failure to answer the questions in

7. Discuss any four effects of social media during the process of teaching, learning
and assessment in class. (20 marks)
8. Discuss any four ways on how you can encourage class participation as a strategy
for teaching a large class. (20 marks)
A large class is the one with more learners than the teacher can prefer to
manage and available resources can support.

A large class is when the workload for a subject or learning area is higher
than normal because of the number of learners in a particular class. There are
a number of ways a teacher can use to encourage class participation as a
strategy for teaching a large class which include; learn names of learners,
move around the classroom, interact with learners freely, get feedback from
learners in small groups.

Learning names of learners will assist teacher to manage a large class such a
way that when a particular learner is making noise a teacher can call him/her
and reinforce him/her appropriately for instance if a learner is making noise
the teacher can call him/her to seat in front.

Movements around the classroom, as the teacher is teaching a large he/ she
is supposed to be moving along the passages created in the class to ensure
he/she takes note of noise makers or able to monitor what is going out
amongst learners and be able to take appropriate measures.

Free teacher learner interaction will also help the teacher to create a good
classroom environment that will assist the teacher manage a large class for
example engaging learners in learning activities and monitor.

As it may be very difficult to monitor progress of every learner foe a particular

task, feedback of the learner performance in some tasks can be done through
small groups for instance group members presenting for the group.
