Installation of rotary hook
To enjoy the quality features of your new CERLIANI hook and obtain superb
performance, install the hook as follows:
Fit the hook on its mounting shaft. Turn hand wheel in the sewing direction until the needle bar is at
its lowest point.
If the needle bar has timing
marks on it (2 lines), check to
make sure that its upper line is
exactly aligned with the level of
plan N (Fig. 1A). If they do not
coincide, adjust the needle bar
accordingly. Turn the hand
wheel until the lower line of the
timing marks meets exactly the
level of plan N (Fig. 2A). If the
needle bar
has no timing
marks, use
the gauge
appropriate
for the specific model of sewing machine. Place the gauge of the necessary
thickness in position and lock it on the plan N by fixing the
special clamp to the needle bar (Fig. 1B). Remove the
gauge. Turn the hand wheel until the clamp reaches the
plan N (Fig. 2B).
With the machine in this position, rotate the hook on its
shaft until the hook point coincides exactly with the center line of the
needle. Lightly lock the hook set screws on the hook shaft. At this position
raise or lower the needle bar (in case B remove the clamp used) until there
is a distance of 0.5-1.5 mm between the hook point and the upper edge of
the needle eye (Fig. 3). Now clamp the needle bar in this position.
The hook must now be set in its transverse position.
hook point, when passing the needle, should be set so that there is a clearance between them of
0.05-0.10 mm (Fig. 4).
If a hook point guard is fitted to the hook, this should be adjusted so that if the needle is deflected
towards the hook point, it will restrain the needle and therefore prevent damage to the hook point.
Finally, tighten fully the hook set screws.

Depending on the sewing conditions, it is possible to advance or delay the nominal timing according
to the values of the following table.
