Electrolytes and Non Electrolytes

The document outlines an experiment conducted by Nathan Xander Acejo to classify various liquid solutions and solids as electrolytes or non-electrolytes based on their electrical conductivity. The results show that strong electrolytes like NaCl (aq) and vinegar lit up the bulb brightly, while non-electrolytes like distilled water and sugar crystals did not conduct electricity. The document also includes guide questions addressing the differences between electrolytes and non-electrolytes, the importance of rinsing electrodes, and the conductivity differences between NaCl crystals and NaCl (aq).

20. Diet Pepsi The bulb’s light was dim Weak electrolyte

GUIDE QUESTIONS
Based from this activity:
1. Differentiate electrolytes from non-electrolytes.

Electrolytes conduct electricity because of the composition of their molecules, while on the other hand non-
electrolytes does not conduct electricity because they do no dissociate into ions therefore not able to conduct
electricity

2. Why do we need to wash/ rise the electrodes with distilled water after each test?
So that there will be no remnants of the previous solution, and so that it will not interfere with the current
solution being tested.

3. Differentiate NaCl crystals and NaCl (aq) with regards to their electrical conductivity. EGVD01202022

NaCl crystals was a non-electrolyte and NaCl (aq) was a strong electrolyte.
