SCIENCE PROJECT
CLEAN AND GREEN ENERGY
a) Summary: - Solar energy is the energy that is converted into the form of
electricity which helps in saving power and electricity charges. Most of the
sunlight entering the atmosphere of earth emerges in the appearance of
infrared radiation and visible light. Solar energy provides a clean way of
making electricity directly from sunlight. Solar energy has been utilised since
many years for cooking, heating and other important applications. Solar
energy is also used for solar water heaters and house heating. The heat from
solar ponds enables the production of chemicals, food, textiles, warm
greenhouses, swimming pools, and livestock buildings. Now a days, Solar
energy is used for aeroplanes, satellites. The Sun is powerful and has always
been a crucial resource for humanity where the energy of the sun is
considered to be inexhaustible. Solar energy possesses a positive impact on
the environment and replenishes environmental factors. Recently, the norms
of solar energy projects have been popular due to the excessive usage of
fossil fuels on the environment. The project of solar energy has been
gradually developing with the use of innovative technology. The renewable
project of solar energy means the energy gathered from sustainable sources.
I will demonstrate the conversation of solar energy into electric energy with
the help of a working model.
b) Motivation for selecting “clean & Green energy”: Solar energy is a
renewable source of energy which is accessible and harnesses all areas of
the world. Sunlight is available to earth for more than 5 billion years which is
utilised effectively in this time for a positive effect on the environment. The
solar energy is converting solar heating and Cooling, Concentrating solar
power and photovoltaics for electricity. One of the major facts about solar
energy is that one hour of sunlight is identical to energy worth 1 year for the
planet. Solar energy projects are evolving rapidly because solar panels do not
create any sort of pollution when initiating electricity. The Sun is a powerful
resource and its light advances 90 million miles to the atmosphere of the earth
in 10 minutes.
With an installed solar capacity of over 63.3 GW, India is the 5th largest
solar country in the world. The country has vast solar potential, as most
states of India receive sunshine for more than 300 days a year. To harness
this potential, the Indian government is constantly churning out policies and
initiatives that encourage the shift to solar among the population. The nation is
also determined to reduce import dependence in the solar sector and build
domestic manufacturing capabilities.
c) Concept: When the sun shines onto a solar panel, energy from the
sunlight is absorbed by the photovoltaic (PV) cells in the panel. This energy
creates electrical charges that move in response to an internal electrical field
in the cell, causing electricity to flow.
d) Material used in project: Battery, LED, electrical wires, cardboard and
colour paper.
a) Detailed design and working of project: model consist of two solar panel of
photovoltaic cell and battery to store electrical charges. When the sun shines
onto a solar panel, energy from the sunlight is absorbed by the photovoltaic
(PV) cells in the panel. This energy creates electrical charges that move in
response to an internal electrical field in the cell, causing electricity to flow. In
addition to an inverter, a typical residential solar system also requires a
rectifier to charge a backup battery. As opposed to an inverter, a rectifier is a
device used to convert an Alternating Current (AC) into a Direct Current (DC)
by forcing the current to flow through the device in a single direction. During
sun light loads are directly connected to solar panel and after sunlight loads
are connected through battery.
b) Social impact of proposed solution : Solar energy is a sustainable
alternative to fossil fuels. The sun is likely to be around for at least a few
billion years. Solar energy has a substantially reduced impact on the
environment compared to fossil fuels. Its greenhouse gas emissions are
inconsequential as the technology does not require any fuel combustion. If we
use solar energy, we can have clean and green environment.
