Announcing the CARESTREAM Classic CR with Easy View Display


and the
Elite CR with Single Frame Design System

IMPORTANT: When doing the procedures in this document, you must use safe work

Overview
The following components or sub-systems are the new changes for the new
Classic/Elite CR System:

The system will scan the phosphor plate, communicates the image data to a host,
and erases the residual image on the plate. The Classic/Elite System also will
provide capability to enter patient demographic and exam data via a touch screen
user interface and an external bar-code reader.

To accomplish this the reader will extract an exposed plate from a cassette, scans
the plate (excites the phosphors using a laser), collects the light emitted by the
plate, digitizes the signal from photo multipliers, performs image processing and
transmits the digitized data representing the latent image via connection to a
DICOM network (Elite) or direct connect to console (Classic/Elite). An internal
imaging plate eraser will remove the residual image. The plate is then returned to
the cassette, ready for the next exposure.

Changes to the Classic/Elite CR System product are to achieve the following goal:

Reduced installation time. (There are no shipping brackets to remove.)

Service Strategy
Service will continue as it is currently in place for Classic/Elite CR Systems. The
service codes are not changing for Classic/Elite CR Systems. Therefore it is crucial to
feedback CR System serial numbers in CRM and SCAN plus. This is the only way to
track the new systems vs. old.

Service Training

The service training for Classic/Elite CR Systems is a blended instructional


approach to teaching the updated systems. This training includes an online e-
learning module, “Classic and Elite CR Systems Update Training”, which covers
the differences between (previous) Classic and Elite CR Systems and (new) Classic
CR with Easy View display Systems and updated Elite CR Systems. This training
is designed for existing learners who have already received training on Classic and
Elite CR Systems, but will need to service these updated systems and understand
how they have been modified from previous systems.
The second component of the blended service training is a classroom module,
which covers the updates made to Classic and Elite CR Systems by categorizing
them into key topics. These topics can be transitioned into all existing CR
classroom curriculums that train Classic and Elite CR Systems and will cover the
updates in conjunction with the training on the older systems. This training is for
learners who are attending existing classroom training because they are new to CR
and have not received training on Classic and Elite CR Systems. They will take the
Elearning module at the completion of the classroom training to reinforce retention
of key changes and to assess their knowledge in order to signify service readiness.
