Advantages of Geothermal Energy:

1.

Significant Cost Saving : Geothermal energy generally involves low running costs since it saves 80% costs over fossil fuels and no fuel is used to generate the power.

2.

Reduce Reliance on Fossil Fuels: Dependence on fossil fuels decreases with the increase in the use of geothermal energy. With the sky-rocketing prices of oil, many countries are pushing companies to adopt these clean sources of energy.

3.

Environmental Benefits: Being the renewable source of energy, geothermal energy has helped in reducing global warming and pollution. Moreover, Geothermal systems does not create any pollution as it releases some gases from deep within the earth which are not very harmful to the environment.

4.

Direct Use: Since ancient times, people having been using this source of energy for taking bath, heating homes, preparing food and today this is also used for direct heating of homes and offices.

5.

Job Creation and Economic Benefits: Geothermal energy on the other hand has created many jobs for the local people.

Disadvantages of Geothermal Energy:

1.

Not Widespread Source of Energy: Since, this type of energy is not widely used therefore the unavailability of equipment, staff, infrastructure, training pose hindrance to the installation of geothermal plants across the globe.

2.

High Installation Costs: To get geothermal energy, requires installation of power plants, to get steam from deep within the earth and this require huge one time investment and require to hire a certified installer and skilled staff needs to be recruited and relocated to plant location. Moreover, electricity towers, stations need to set up to move the power from geothermal plant to consumer.

3.

Can Run Out Of Steam : Geothermal sites can run out of steam over a period of time due to drop in temperature or if too much water is injected to cool the rocks and this may result huge loss for the companies which have invested heavily in these plants.

4.

Suited To Particular Region: It is only suitable for regions where temperature below the earth is quite low and can produce steam over a long period of time. For this great research is required which is done by the companies before setting up the plant.

5.

May Release Harmful Gases: Geothermal sites may contain some poisonous gases and they can escape deep within the earth, through the holes drilled by the constructors.

Tidal Power Pros 1. Renewable,non-Polluting and Carbon Negative - Tidal Energy is completely renewable, does not lead to any pollution of the air and does not lead to any carbon emissions like Fossil Fuels 2. Predictable - Tidal Wave Energy is very predictable as the Tides rise with great uniformity.Other forms of Renewable Energy like Solar and Wind Energy are intermittent in nature. The electricity supply is much more uniform and reliable in case of Tidal Power 3. No Fuel - Tidal Power needs Water for Generation of Electricity in its catchment area.It does not need fuel like Thermal,Gas or Oil Powered Power Stations 4. Low Costs Once a Tidal Energy Power Plant starts running, its costs are extremely low.The biggest Power Plant in France run by EDF works at 1.5c/Kwh which is lower than either nuclear or coal energy which are the cheapest forms of power 5. Long Life - A Tidal Barrage has a very long life of around 100 years which is much longer than that of even Nuclear Power Plants. The long life implies that the lifecycle cost of a Tidal Energy Power Plant becomes very low in the long term 6. High Energy Density - The Energy Density of Tidal Energy is much higher than that of other forms of Renwable Energy like Wind Power 7. High Load Factor - The Load Factor for Solar and Wind Energy ranges from 15-40% which is quite low compared to Fossil Fuel Energy.Tidal Energy has a load factor of almost 80% which is equal to that of Thermal Power. Tidal Power Cons 1. High Initial Capital Investment - Tidal Barrages require massive investment to construct a Barrage or Dam across a river estuary. This is comparable to construction of a massive dam for Hydro Power. This is perhaps the biggest disadvantage of this technology 2. Limited Locations The US DOE estimates that there are only about 40 locations in the world capable of supporting Tidal Barrages. This is because this Tidal Energy Technology requires sizable Tides for the Power Plant to be built. The limited number of locations is a big hurdle. 3. Effect on Marine Life - The operation of commercial Tidal Power Stations has known to moderately affect the marine life around the Power Plant. It leads to disruption in movement and growth of fishes and other marine life. Can also lead to increase in silt.Turbines can also kill fish passing through it. 4. Immature Technology Except for Tidal Barrage, the other forms of Technology generating Tidal or Wave Power are quite immature, costly and unproven 5. Long Gestation Time The cost and time overruns can be huge for Tidal Power Plants leading to their cancellation just like that of the Severn Barrage in the UK.Many of the Tidal Power Stations like the gigantic Plant being planned in Russia will never come to fruition because of the very long gestation time. 6. Difficulty in Transmission of Tidal Electricity Some forms of Tidal Power generate power quite far away from the consumption of electricity.Transportation of Tidal Energy can be quite combersome and expensive. 7. Weather Effects Severe Weather like Storms and Typhoons can be quite devastating on the Tidal Power Equipment especially those place on the Sea Floor. Wave energy Advantages: Wave power is a renewable Energy Source. Wave Energy Is a Clean Fuel. Wave Energy is Environmentally Friendly - it doesn't destroy the environment. There is plenty of it. Tides/Waves are always predictable. you can always produce a significant amount of energy. you don't need fuel so it doesn't cost that much . Waves are free and will not run out so the cost is in building the power station. Wave power does not produce greenhouse gases. There are very few safety risks with wave power generation.

If the whole tidal/wave energy scheme does get popular real estate will be losing money for beach front houses since they will be using the beaches for the tidal/wind farms. It depends where you put it for the costs so not much good financially May interfere with mooring and anchorage lines commercial and sport fishing. Waves can be big or small so you may not always be able to generate electricity. You need to find a way of transporting the electricity from the sea onto the land. Not many people have tried to generate electricity this way yet so the equipment is expensive. Advantages:

Solar power gives you a return on your investment, while paying your utility for electricity gives you 0% return. Solar energy is renewable unlike the conventional resources (coal, oil) which will inevitably run out. It will let the world be alive in a half a century! Non-polluting, no carbon dioxide like fossil fuels Free except for capital expenses. Longevity - solar panels can last over thirty years Low maintenance - solar panels require very little upkeep Independence - an off-grid system allows you to break free from the electrical grid Requires large areas of land to place the solar panels on. Costs a lot of money to produce the solar panels. The solar panels aren't that effective for now, they do not produce so much energy. Requires the sun, which lowers the productivity during the winter. Enviromental friendly because the conversion of energy doesnt produce any carbon dioxide. It is renewable It comes from the sun, which, unless you are in The South or North pole, comes out almost everyday Solar power costs less and is better for the environment, compared to burning fossil fuels and other electrical power. sun is renewable You get full clean energy without harming the environment [in term of carbon emissions] , it's renewable [ u dont hv to pay for unlimited solar lighting ] in certain countries, an excessive power generated can be sold back to local electricity provider reduces pollution helps create jobs - shores up economy - to build -> you hire - innovate-maintain - basically economic activities reduced dependence on fossil fuels => reduces incentive to intervene in the middle east => more pressure on middle east and on western economies to do something real, good, and meaningful -> as opposed to blaming each other Disadvantages:

Takes up a lot of space, Usually a high initial cost. Only works when Sun is shining. some days are not sunny It is very space consuming, because an average solar panel is 1-2' x 5-12'. It doesn't produce much electricity for one single panel. It is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, costing almost a $1000 for a single panel. if u were to build it on the ground, the cost will be higher [ for massive area of land] Only areas of the world with lots of sunlight are suitable for solar power generation The major disadvantage of solar power or solar energy is the cost of the photovoltaic panels You need a lot of money to the installation of the solar energy. Least power energy at night time is another disadvantage of solar energy. There is no solar energy to be collected which means you'll have to have adequate battery backup to get you through the nights. if people invest money in them they can have a tendency to use energy more freely rather than continuing to try and be economical with resources as they feel they have "done their bit" High Initial Outlay => Either Vc or Government support/subsidy government support => impact on budget => ratification through the Congress/senate/parliament etc -> some people complain of eyesores -> * fine beautiful, great - but not in my backyard -" - well so said the folks in Maine.. Procurement and Installation is expensive, but this can be helped by Federal grants that are now available
