Internet of Things (IoT) Platform

Project Description (Executive Summary)

This executive summary presents a Proof of Concept (POC) for an IoT platform to be
implemented in the context of an LNG facility. The purpose of this POC is to utilize the
IoT platform as a central hub for collecting and analyzing data from various field-
deployed devices such as wearable devices, cameras, and sensors. The primary focus
of this POC will be on improving operational efficiency and enhancing health, safety,
security, and environmental (HSSE) practices within the facility.

Equipment and Certifications:

The company has already procured essential equipment for the POC, including Wi-Fi
tags, XR devices (specifically 5x Realwear devices), and is planning to acquire
additional AR equipment (DreamGlass). All the equipment has been certified as ATEX
Zone 1/11 compliant, ensuring its safe usage in hazardous environments.

Equipment Quantity Certification

Wi-Fi RTLS (Extronics TBD ATEX Zone 1/11
iTag100)
XR Devices (Realwear 5 ATEX Zone 1/11
HMT-1Z1)
AR Equipment TBD ATEX Zone 1/11
(DreamGlass)

Contractor shall propose the temporary cameras to be used for this scope. Contractor
shall ensure that all cameras are ATEX Zone 1/11 compliant.

Project Goals & Objectives:

The IoT platform aims to leverage the data received from wearable technology and
other devices to achieve the following objectives:

 Real-time monitoring and incident notification: By utilizing wearable technology

data, the platform will enable real-time monitoring of people deployed on-site. It
will automatically notify operators and HSSE personnel in the event of potential
fall or faint incidents, ensuring prompt response and timely assistance.

 Emergency evacuation guidance: In case of emergency evacuation, staff

wearing XR/AR devices will be guided to the nearest muster point using the IoT
platform. This feature will enhance the facility's emergency response
capabilities and improve overall safety.

 Alarm notification: The IoT platform will notify the control room when a user
activates the emergency button on the Wi-Fi RTLS, allowing for swift response
and coordination during critical situations.

Internet of Things (IoT) Platform

 Machine Vision capabilities: As part of the POC, temporary cameras will be

deployed at key locations, and the camera feed from wearable devices will be
utilized (where applicable) to analyze operations. The platform's machine vision
capabilities will aid in identifying the correct usage of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE), such as ensuring the proper wearing of hard hats, unrolled
sleeves, and adherence to PPE requirements, thereby enhancing HSSE
practices.

 Assessment of technology adoption: The platform will provide aggregated data

on the use of XR/AR devices within the plant, enabling the assessment of
technology adoption. This analysis will contribute to operational efficiency
improvements by identifying areas where XR/AR devices are effectively utilized
and areas that may require further attention.

Conclusion:
The IoT platform POC for the LNG facility aims to demonstrate the significant benefits
it can bring to operational efficiency and HSSE practices. By leveraging wearable
devices, cameras, and sensors, the platform will enable real-time monitoring, incident
notification, emergency evacuation guidance, technology adoption assessment, alarm
notifications, and machine vision capabilities. The POC will showcase how the IoT
platform can revolutionize the facility's operations, ensuring a safer and more efficient
working environment while facilitating data-driven decision-making.
