WE ARE THE NIGHT ALL-AMERICAN BOY
We are the night CHORUS Ripped jeans, only drinks whiskey Ripped jeans, tight shirt
We are the yellow moon in the sky And we just wanna be free Find him by the fire while his girl was He lights a cigarette—-you know, I’m glad
We are the amber glow Is there anything more lovely? getting frisky, ohh that she can’t stand it, ohh
Of a fire light We got our whole lives to love I say we go this road tonight I drink the moonlight from his eyes
In a lover’s eyes And tonight we’re as young as we’ll He smiles, his arm’s around her Now hold there, just a moment
ever be But his eyes are holdin me, just a captive I want to take this in, now we don’t need
We are the dark to his wonder, ohh no photo of it, no
We are a hundred billion stars So don’t you never look back
Today could be our last I say we go this road tonight We should go this road tonight
We are the heavy hearts on the subway cars
We are the night And we’ll just live as we are And now, I know that that’s your girl, I Now, I know that that’s your girl, and I
Unmoved by the darkness we face mean no disrespect don’t give a damn
PRE-CHORUS Cause we are the night The way that shirt hugs you chest, Boy, I She’s been cussin and cryin…she don’t
They’re gonna say we just ain’t right just won’t forget know what she has
We are the night But we are the night I’ll be sittin here, drinking my whiskey I’ll be, sittin here, tryin hold down
They’re gonna say we just ain’t right We are the night I won’t say goodnight unless I think ya my whiskey,
But we are the night might miss me, ohh You tell your girl, “Good night,” cause
We are the night We are the brave somebody’d like to kiss me, ohh
We are the ones they couldn’t shake CHORUS
Ain’t part of that machine Of all the girls and boys to look my way
Be my All-American boy tonight Ain’t nobody ever hit me this way
So unshamefully, we ignite Where everyday’s the 4th of July
So for every boy, and every girl So won’t you come back with me
No matter who you love We are the light It’s alright, alright and lay with me awhile
And for all my trans brothers And we’re just tryin to get it right And we can keep this up till the I’m gonna wrestle you out of them clothes
and sisters We won’t stop pressin on morning light Leave that beautiful body exposed
Of every race, in every place Through the firestorms And you can hold me deep in your eyes And you can have my heart and my soul and
around this globe We will rise It’s alright, alright my body…
It’s our time So be my, be my… Oh be mine!
We will rise My All-American boy
Be my All-American boy tonight
Baby, you light my fire
I’ll make you feel alright, alright!

WHISKEY CRIME STAY
Ohhhhhhhh Whiskey, whiskey, out so late Summer wind blows in again So come on down, I will show you how
Whiskey, whiskey, make things right Imma feelin like I shouldn’t stay Sometimes I wonder where we lost it Us midwest boys like to party
Imma feelin kinda low tonight People they just love to hate My good intentions were your favorite weapons So grab a beer…And get over here
Together we can take this guy And we’re just havin fun And still I’ve yet to learn my lesson Summer’s drawin near
Don’t matter that he’s twice our size Whiskey, whiskey, make me strong…yeah Whoh, oh, oh Don’t wait another year…hey, hey, hey!
Whiskey, whiskey make me brave Keep me goin all night long No, I don’t need much for anything CHORUS 2
Oh the things that you get me to say Help me sing this Springsteen song But a shady tree and a couple pulls Stay with me, we might never have to leave
They tell me I’m just not okay Even when we’re outta key of whiskey You my southern king, we live it for
But we’re just havin fun It’s perfect harmony To write my songs of love and life and loss the daydreams
The way you keep me comin undone Whiskey, whiskey, I know I’m young And just a few bout you So don’t get mad
But I’m really thinkin you’re the one So if you’ll hear me out What’s past is in the past
CHORUS Always ready to give me some of that CHORUS 1 We can make this last
I don’t want beer! I won’t drink wine! dark rich love If you just give me that chance
Yeah, I’m thinkin you’re the one Stay with me, we might never have to leave
That fruity appletini? That’s a You my southern king, we live it for So when my old man’s out of town for a
whiskey crime! the daydreams couple days
Liquor that’s clear? Not over here! Ohhhhhhhh
So don’t you laugh I think that you should…
That sour gin and tonic only makes ya cry Notre Dame, he had his chance
Vodka or tequila? You’re not for me-ah! Stay with me all summer
And he’s a good, good man Stay with me under the covers
Now ya know what I want, so ya know what I But there’s some things he just
need-ah! Stay with me
won’t understand Be my lover
Gi-give me that feelin, gi—give me
that feelin! You know, my old man’s out of town for a Walkin through that old gate
Oooooh… couple days It’s quite a site to see
I think that you should… That handsome face in this desert place
Stay with me all summer Getting away from me
Stay with me under the covers That’s juxtaposition
Stay with me But right now it’s indecision
Be my lover Do I go back out and chase you down?
Or will you be the one that got away?
No, oh, oh

I’ve been known to break a few hearts Now baby don’t be scared 22 I was made for you CHORUS
And ain’t that the truth I want to take you… take you… there Steel eyes and blinders too When time was on our side
Wild heart’s growing restless I will take you there We were right on track You and I suspended in that warm

I will take you there, I will take And if you ever figure out this life
PRE-CHORUS you there Winter moved along
Sunrays through a morning fog Keep tellin’ me those sweet, sweet lies
I ain’t drunk, you’re just uptight Darlin don’t be scared, I will take Cause I don’t wanna know

I ain’t dumb, I’m just your fool Just you and I I don’t wanna know
I ain’t well, but it’s alright I will take you there, Darlin don’t I don’t wanna know

CHORUS Oh Baby, come in close PRE-CHORUS We watched the game
I want you out of those clothes And you were keepin me warm through Back at Andy’s place

praise the good Lord for makin you so Pretending to give a damn
Ooo oo oo-ooo When I left my life to the cold outside About coaches and quarterbacks
You move that body like damn beautiful You left your light on With your head in my lap
Ooo oo oo-ooo Oh, you let me shine on Now who could blame me for that
It’s takin over me now
Keep dancing (ahhhh) Steel eyes stealin my heart
Keep dancin next to me Right from the start
We get up to your apartment
Keep the lights down low
Your skin in that dim light
The way your body glows

BETTER OFF RUN
Softly, as evening falls into the stars Show me, that side of you I’m scared to know I’m the 101, I’m 18 from I’ve loved and lost, I’ve turned
I reach your hand before the Earth I need your truth before I let you go This brand new man I will become and tossed
goes dark Now that look in your eyes still leaves I am born again, right out this skin I’ve shuddered at the pain I’ve caused
If we had everything under this twilight me blinded I only live to start again I crossed that line, no good at lies
I’d swear we’d make it to Mars Is this the death of my youth? So I run I looked the devil in the eyes
But you left no refuge here now for the We’re always searching for, hoping, and So I run
dark nights dying for At 24, I’m not so sure I start to run
And the miles and miles of bars But do we really want the truth? What this life should mean to me anymore
Don’t blame yourself Do you see that side of me I used to? I mean no disrespect, I just don’t give So pack your bags, we leave tonight
You didn’t kill this thing alone a shit We won’t go down, without a fight
Under a shooting star, I wish away No one knows the cards a man’s So pack your bags, we leave tonight
CHORUS my heart workin with We won’t go down, without a fight
May you live oustide the shadow of So I run
I said, “Baby, this day I start to run
you can’t save me So I run
Cause baby the love we shared (Run run, run na, na na na)
I won’t change It’s outta the stratosphere CHORUS
You know we’re better off this way” (So pack your bags, we leave tonight)
And I hope you come to know the same So I run
I start to run, I’m still young
I said, “Baby, Not looking back from where I come (Run run, run na, na na na)
I know (I’ll grow to wish it wasn’t (We won’t go down without a fight)
you can’t save me, no, but) we’re You get this life just one time
I won’t change Better off, better off…better this way You do yours and I’ll do mine
I guess we’re better off this way So I run
I guess we’re better off, better off So I run
Better this way…yeah”

BACK TO CALIFORNIA
Do you remember California? 20-oh-6?
You told me we could change this world
CHORUS All Words and Music by:
So it’s back to California in my mind
I had no doubt about it
I was always kind of awkward
Petty arguments on bus rides in muted
sunlight
Steve Grand*
You never seemed to mind We belong to California, young and free *except “Red, White and Blue” written by Itaal Shur, Steve Grand
Just two kids in high school and wild and Larry Dvoskin, and “Soakin’ Wet” written by Steve Grand,
What could we know about life? Where our dreams grew big as your Andrew Allen, Matthew Morales, James Gabriel Morales and
You were my tiny dancer yellow eyes Dave Rodriguez
Golden hair and yellow eyes As they looked into mine
I was your disaster
Do you remember summer nights? Out in the
Always brushing you aside, I didn’t see it
right then parking lot? Produced by:
But in the years that have gone by Checkin out those seniors? Man those
You know, I’ve never found a better friend drum-line boys looked hot Aaron Johnson**
Than this one I left behind…ohhh And we danced under the street lamps,
high off that summer heat
So you’re getting married “Just two more years! Just two more **except “Red, White and Blue” produced by Itaal Shur,
I hope he’s nothing like our daddies years!” and we’d be outta here…ohhh “Soakin’ Wet” produced by The Elev3n, “Run” produced by
When we were young Daniel Crawford and “Time” co-produced by Danny Wells
And love was something so fucked-up Now we’re getting older
It’s sure had its toll on me The world’s grown dark and colder…ohhh
You’re in law school
I’m a bar back in the neighborhood…ohhh Mixed by:
Ooo… ooo… ooo… Tim Palmer***
