Political Party
Meaning and definition of Political Party
“Political Party is an organized group of citizens who holds
common views on public questions and acting as a political unit
to have control of the government with a view to further the
programme and policy which they profess.”

“A political party is defined as an organised group of people


with at least roughly similar political aims and opinions, that
seeks to influence public policy by getting its candidates
elected to public office.”
Political Party serves as the motive force in criticizing public
opinion.

Political parties are often described as institutionalized


mediators between civil society and those who decide and
implement decisions.
Conditions to be a Political Party
There are 5 conditions to be a Political Party:

➢ Bind the people together based on some basic principles


➢ People having similar views must be duly organized
➢ Must have clear and specific programmes
➢ Should have a constitution stating the basic policies
➢ Must endeavour national interest
To what extent the political parties (gono adhokar parishad) in Bangladesh
fulfill these conditions
