Materials:
4mm crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Size 3 or 4 (pending gauge), worsted weight yarn, about 600-1,000 yards depending on size and length.

Stitch markers

Dress form (helpful but not required).

Elastic (optional for waistband)

Choose your size:


This skirt is made to fit.

Gauge:
A gauge swatch is not necessary because this pattern is made to fit.

Stitches:
CH - chain

SC - single crochet

DC - double crochet

DC2tog – Double crochet two together

TC - triple crochet

TC2tog – Triple crochet two together

SK – skip

Picot

Slip stitch

* * - indicates repeat
Skirt body:

Chain to fit around your waist, where you want the top
of your lace stitches to sit (green arrow).

Chain a multiple of 11. I wear size 4/6 bottoms, and I


chained 110. Slip stitch into your first chain.

Round 1: CH1. SC in each stitch around.

Slip stitch into first SC.


Round 2: CH5 (counts as first TC CH2). TC into same
stitch. CH4, SK3, SC. (CH3, SC)x3.

*CH4, SK3, (TC CH2 TC). CH4, SK3, SC. (CH3, SC)x3.*
Repeat around.

After last CH3 cluster, CH4. Slip stitch into third chain of
starting CH5.

Round 3: CH1. SC into first TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into


CH2 space. SC into next TC. CH4. Inside second CH3
space, (TC CH2 TC). CH4.

*SC into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into CH2 space.
SC into next TC. CH4. Inside second CH3 space, (TC CH2
TC). CH4.* Repeat around.
Slip stitch into first SC.

Round 4: CH1. Slip stitch up to second CH3 space.

CH5 (counts as TC CH2). TC into same CH3 space. CH4,


SC into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into CH2 space. SC
into next TC.
*CH4. Inside second CH3 space, (TC CH2 TC). CH4, SC
into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into CH2 space. SC
into next TC.* Repeat around. After final SC, CH4, slip
stitch into third chain at top of first TC.

REPEAT ROUNDS 3 AND 4 as needed to reach desired


length to slit, ending on a row 4.

SIZING OPTION: If you want to widen your skirt over


your butt or as your waist widens, replace all CH4’s with
CH5’s. You can also increase your hook size if you need
another option.

Skirt slit:

I started my slit about 6 inches above my knees.

Slip stitch into CH2 space.

Slit row 1: CH8 (counts as TC CH4).

*Inside second CH3 space, (TC CH2 TC). CH4 (or CH5 if
you chose to widen), SC into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC
CH3) into CH2 space. SC into next TC. CH4 (or CH5 if you
chose to widen).* Repeat around.
After final TC CH2 TC, CH4. TC into same CH2 space as
your starting CH8 (green arrow). Turn your work.

Slit row 2: CH8 (counts as first TC CH4).

*SC into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into CH2 space.
SC into next TC. CH4 (or CH5 if you chose to widen).
Inside second CH3 space, (TC CH2 TC). CH4 (or CH5 if
you chose to widen).* Repeat around.

After final CH3 cluster, CH4. TC into 4th stitch of starting


CH8. Turn your work.
Slit row 3: CH8 (counts as TC CH4). *Inside second CH3
space, (TC CH2 TC). CH4 (or CH5 if you chose to widen),
SC into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into CH2 space. SC
into next TC. CH4 (or CH5 if you chose to widen).*
Repeat around.

After final TC CH2 TC, CH4. TC into final stitch. Turn your
work.

REPEAT SLIT ROWS 2 AND 3 until desired length is


reached, ending on a row 3.
SIZING OPTION: If you want to widen your skirt again as
you go, replace all CH5’s with CH6’s.

End your skirt on a slit row 1.


Border row:

CH8 (counts as first TC CH4).

*SC into next TC. (CH3 SC CH3 SC CH3) into CH2 space.
SC into next TC. CH4 (or CH5/6 if you chose to widen).
Inside second CH3 space, (TC picot (CH3 slip stitch into
1st chain) TC). CH4 (or CH5/6 if you chose to widen).*
Repeat around.

After final CH3 cluster, CH4. TC into 4th stitch of starting


CH8.

Turn your work 90 degrees to crochet along the side.


3SC in each row.
Once you reach the two rows closest to the slit, SC2 in
the first row. SC2tog as your last stitch in the first row
and your first stitch in the second row. SC2 more in the
second row. SC3 in each row along the side.
3SC in your final row. Fasten off.

Waistband:

Slip stitch where you want the back ties to be (blue box
will become back tie section) on top of a TC CH2 TC
cluster (yellow arrow).
Waistband row 1: CH3 (counts as first TC). TC in next 2
stitches. SK1. *TC in next 3 stitches, SK1.* Repeat
around.

SIZING OPTION: Try your skirt on. If the waistband feels


too loose, skip more frequently than every 4th stitch. If it
feels too tight, skip less frequently than every 4th stitch.

Place final TC in stitch above last TC CH2 TC (yellow


arrow).
Waistband row 2: CH3 and turn (counts as first TC).
TC2tog.

* CH1, SK1, TC.* Repeat around.

When 3 stitches remain, TC2tog and TC in final stitch.


Waistband row 3: CH3(counts as first TC). SK1, then TC
in each stitch around until 2 remain.

SK1, then TC in final stitch.

CH1 and turn work 90 degrees to SC along waistband tie


loops. 3SC in each row. SC along dip, and along second
side of waistband loop rows.
CH1 and turn your work 90 degrees to work along the
top edge. SC in each stitch. After final SC, CH1 and slip
stitch into first SC of border row. Fasten off.

Chain a waistband tie for your waistband loops. I made


mine about 15 inches long.

Sew in all ends.


Optional: Using a tapestry needle, weave yarn through
the stitches atop your slit and then pull tight to create a
cinch. I brought this up pretty high for a dramatic effect.
Tie tight and secure the ends.

Optional: Using a tapestry needle, sew elastic through


the top row of your waistband for a tighter fit.

You’re all done!
