Subject: Invitation to Participate in ‘Aryabhatta@50’ – One-Day Satellite Model-Making
Competition
Respected Ma’am/Sir,
Greetings from GuruKool Academy.
On the historic occasion of the 50th anniversary of the launch of Aryabhata, India’s first
satellite, GuruKool Academy is organizing a one-day Satellite Model-Making Competition titled
Aryabhatta@50 on April 19, 2025, at the NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi. This event is a
tribute to both India’s pioneering satellite and the ancient Indian mathematician Aryabhata,
whose astronomical insights continue to inspire generations. The competition is designed to
spark scientific curiosity and promote sustainability, creativity, and innovation among school
students.
GuruKool Academy is an ISRO-registered Space Tutor that draws inspiration from India’s ancient
Gurukul system—where learning goes beyond classrooms to nurture intellectual, emotional,
and creative growth. Our mission is to empower students, particularly in rural and
underrepresented communities, through transformative STEM programs. We have positively
impacted over 600,000 students and partnered with 2,500+ schools across six states. With
esteemed collaborations including NASA’s EarthKAM, the International Astronomical Search
Collaboration, and the University of California, Santa Cruz, we offer world-class learning
opportunities, internships, and exposure to global scientific communities.
We invite participation from students of Class 6 and above. Each team must consist of a
minimum of three students to encourage collaboration and teamwork. Participating teams will
conceptualize and construct satellite models for interplanetary missions using only recycled or
waste materials. The models may represent orbiters, landers, rovers, Earth-observing satellites,
or flyby probes, allowing students to creatively engage with real-world mission challenges while
learning the fundamentals of space engineering.
We are honored to share that the event will be graced by the presence of Dr. V. Narayanan,
Chairman of ISRO, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. S. Somanath, Former Chairman of ISRO, as the
Guest of Honour. Their interactions with students will offer invaluable insights into India’s space
program and serve as a powerful source of motivation.
In the days leading up to the event, registered teams will also be invited to attend a series of
online guest lectures by ISRO scientists, engineers, and leaders from the Indian space startup
ecosystem, covering topics such as satellite mechanics, interplanetary mission planning, and
eco-conscious innovation in space technology.
To register your school’s participation, we kindly request you to register your interest in the
form by April 12, 2025. Once we receive your interest, we will coordinate directly with your
team for further details and logistical arrangements.
We would be delighted to have your school participate in this meaningful initiative that blends
science, sustainability, and creativity.
A detailed set of participation guidelines is attached herewith for your reference.
