the first page and an Index or Contents page on page two. Carefully check and edit your Final Portfolio before
submitting it.

Introduction: Introduce your assessment and tell us what to expect as we read through your Final Portfolio
Maximum score: 5%

First Portfolio Activity.

Task 1, include your two screenshots – ensure you include the date of when you posted your Blog, and then
discuss what you have learnt concerning yourself as you have worked through the module, refer to the
screenshots (this is what you thought at the beginning of the module, to your perception now).

Maximum score: 15%

Second Portfolio Activity:

Watch the video of Umtshato: Discuss the role of ecolect and idiolect and consider the effect on
Nomathamsanqa Khumbuza as she realizes and begins to understand her language and culture. Compare her
ecolect and idiolect with that of her family living in the rural areas. Then look at your own ecolect and idiolect and
tell us how it differs or is the same as people who live in a different geographical area than yourself.

Maximum score: 20%

Third Portfolio Activity and Introduction:

Introduction. Look at the photo of the family and discuss. Ensure you justify your answer, regarding whether you
think they are family or not.

Task 1 and Body: Go back and look at the questions in Unit 3.3, answer the questions here on your Portfolio and
include your family structure. Your family structure is best represented as a Family Tree. Try to go back as far
as possible and add as many of your family members as possible, included their names and the relationships.
Now, think about your family and your ideas about your family and share those ideas here, keep the questions in
Unit 3.3 in mind and use them as a guide. Your Body should take the form of a well written paragraph.

Maximum score: 20%

Fourth Portfolio Activity:

Include a screenshot of your original “I am an African” discussion that you posted on the Discussion Forum.

Include a screenshot of two comments that students made regarding your “I am an African” Discussion, then
discuss why these two comments in particular encouraged you to make the changes to your assessment.
Remember to reference the two comments (tell us who made the comments).

Look at your original “I am an African” Assessment, read the comments that students have made about your
assessment, consider what you have learnt and rewrite your “I am an African” Assessment, making
improvements and corrections and adding details that you had previously left out of your Assessment. Now
include your rewritten and polished Discussion here in your Portfolio.

Maximum score: 25%
