Half Marathon & 10k

2025

Sunday 2 March
Quibell Park, Scunthorpe

Start: 10k: 0900 / Half: 0940

Scotter Road (West Common Lane Jct)
North Lincolnshire Half Marathon & 10k 2025

Welcome
We are both delighted to again bring the combined North
Lincolnshire half marathon and 10k to the area. We have
designed both routes to start and finish in the same place
as well as being extremely flat, fast and friendly.

As seasoned runners ourselves we started organising

races back in 2012 and have over 80 events under our belt!
Where has time gone? Our aim for you is to ensure that
you have a safe and enjoyable race day experience.

As always, we are extremely grateful for all of the support

we have been given to put the race on. If you can please
acknowledge all of the volunteers at HQ and out on the course that would
be most appreciated.

We hope that you have a fantastic race.

Nicola and Neil

GETTING THERE
Event HQ is at Quibell Park (P1), Brumby Wood Lane,
Scunthorpe, DN17 1SR ( strict.just.expose) and is
easily accessible via the M180/M181 (Jct 3) and the
A18 (Kingsway). Please allow plenty of time for your
journey - you can always grab a brew at Event HQ
before you walk to the start!

We have organised plenty of off road parking, all of which is within a maximum of 15
minutes’ walk to race HQ. Click on the RunGo links on the following pages to guide
you from the parking to the Event HQ. These parkings are all free to use, but you do
park at your own risk. Please park in a position you feel is safe and respectful for
other runners.

Whilst it seems strange that we have to mention this, please do not urinate in any of
the car parks as we rely heavily on the land owners for their continued use…THANK
YOU.

Don’t forget, as long as you have your race number, there is no need to register
anywhere on the day. You can head straight to the start if you want.

ROAD CLOSURES
To ensure your safety, we work closely with our traffic
management company and the local authority to put
temporary road closures in place. There will be a full
rolling road closure in place for the event. Whilst the
majority of the closures will only affect you during the
race, some of these will be in place before and after you
finish. We will endeavour to re-open all roads as soon
as practically possible to ensure an efficient exit from the car parks, but please be
patient should you encounter any delays.

Scotter Road/Brumby Wood Lane

Scotter Road (Minster Road Viaduct to Lichfield Avenue) will be closed from 0730 to
1300 approx (see red on main map). This closure includes Brumby Wood Lane, but
Brumby Wood Lane will be available for those cars wanting to park at Quibell Park
(P1). There is no through access to Scotter Road, and when leaving Quibell park
only right hand turn (towards Kingsway) will be allowed.

To avoid delays we recommend that you utilise alternative car parks (Parkings 2-7)
or on street parking (see blue on main map) to access the event.

For exact details of road closures we recommend that you see our Event Website.

Thank you.

YOUR SAFETY AND WELL BEING

Our top priority is always for you to have a
safe and enjoyable race day experience so
please read the following:

Illness & Injury: If you are ill or injured on race

day please do not turn up and race. We have a
medical team in place to deal with
emergencies and not pre-existing conditions. If
you feel unwell, or become injured during the
race, please see the nearest marshal and they
will arrange for help.

Awareness: Please stay alert at all times. Whilst the event is hosted on closed
roads, and is extensively marshalled, we ask that you keep aware of your
surroundings during the race in case any cars or members of the public ignore the
road closures. Please report anything suspicious or untoward to one of the race
marshals.

Clothing: Please dress appropriately for the conditions on race day. Any clothing
left at the start line will be donated to charity so feel free to bring an item to keep you
warm until the start of the race and then dispose of it to the side of the racing line.

Fuelling: Make sure you are well hydrated and fuelled before the start of the race.
Water will be available on both routes (see above for points)and then also at the
finish.

DON’T FORGET TO COMPLETE THE MEDICAL AND EMERGENCY DETAILS

ON THE REVERSE OF YOUR RACE NUMBER. Thank you

#litterfreerace
We aim to respect our environment and minimise the impact we
have on it. We do this by…

Encouraging runners to dispose of all rubbish e.g. used gel

wrappers, responsibly
Giving left over medals, t-shirts and other clothing to
charity
Using an electronic rather than paper race guide
Ensuring all rubbish is removed from the route and re-
cycled
Not using plastic goody bags or bottled water
Ensuring all providers use recyclable material
Encouraging runners to car share or come by bicycle
Allowing runners to choose if they want an event t-shirt or not

Toilets: Sufficient toilets will be available at

Quibell Park (Race HQ) before the race. There will be a limited number of toilets at
the start of the race on Scotter Road. Please use for emergencies only. There are
no toilets on either 10k or Half routes. We respectfully ask that you do not relieve
yourself in public at any point.

Sanitary Products: One small improvement for this year is the provision of sanitary
products. These items can be accessed discretely in the toilet cubicles in the brick
building at Quibell Park. There is no need to ask for them.
Changing Rooms: There will be changing rooms available at Quibell Park. These
are limited, and we recommend you arrive changed.

or Scunthorpe Food Bank. Both organisations will have collection tables at Quibell
Park. See page 15 for more about this.

the caterers who will be located at Quibell Park. Please also consider having a drink

RUNNER INSTRUCTIONS (RACE)

Start: Both events start at the same place on
Scotter Road (jct West Common Lane - see
map). The 10k begins at 0900. The Half
Marathon at 0940. It is a 15 minute walk
(approx) to the start from the HQ at Quibell
Park. We recommend you leave the HQ in
good time to ensure a timely arrival at the start
line. Any surplus clothing left at the start will be
donated to charity. It will not be possible to
return to runners any discarded clothing.

Start Line: The race is chip timed, which

means your time is recorded once you go over the start line.

Drink Station:10k: There will be a water station just before the 5k / 3 miles point.

Half: There will be a water stations at miles 2,4,7 and 10. A jelly baby station
(courtesy of accountants CH Jefferson & Co) will be at the 7.8 mile point.

MP3/Personal Audio: We do understand that some runners like to wear

headphones and listen to music whilst out running. The organisers do not support
the use of personal headphones during the race. If you do choose to run with
headphones on, you do so entirely at your own risk as it will significantly reduce
your ability to listen to safety instructions from our race crew or other runners. It will
also reduce your chances of being able to hear any traffic which has strayed onto
the race route.

We are however bound by the rules of England Athletics who state that only bone
conducting earphones may be used in a race where the roads are not closed to
traffic.

Finish: Once you have entered the grounds of Quibell Park you come
onto the running track where you will run the final 250 metres of
your race. After crossing the finish line you will receive a cup of
water, medal and a cake*. Please keep hold of your cup. You
will be able to refill your drink further along the running track.
Please do not delay any longer than necessary in the
finishing area as other runners will be behind you after
completing their race. You are then welcome to stay and
cheer on the other finishers and enjoy the amenities at the
stadium.
*NOTE: The cake handed out to all finishers may contain
allergens. It is your responsibility to check the ingredients. A
list of these will be on display at the event.

Cut Off Times: We are inclusive and welcome race entries from
all running abilities. Our races are however running events and
designed so that people run for the majority of the distance.

North Lincolnshire Half Marathon & 10k 2025

RUNNER INSTRUCTIONS (RACE)

We have an agreed set time for which we have to re-open the roads to general
traffic and to minimise the impact on the local community. These times are agreed
and sanctioned by the local authority months before a race takes place. They form
an open and transparent part of our community impact plan which we share widely
with residents and businesses affected on the route. We will stick to our promises.

We will have sweep runners at the back of the race so they can encourage those at
the tail end to keep running as much as possible. They will be easily identified as
they will be wearing a back pack flag. If a participant is likely to go well over the
advertised finish times we will politely ask them to withdraw from the race for their
own safety as roads are likely to be reopen prior to them finishing the race. Failure
on our part to re-open the roads at the agreed times could jeopardise the race for
future years. We will work on a generous cut off time of 1hour 45 for a 10k and 3
hours 30 for a half marathon.
