Glory to the Shri Krishna sankirtana (congregational chanting of the Lord's holy
names), which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and
extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. That
sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it
spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental
knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to
fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.

The Ten Offenses to the Holy Name
Author: Vyasadeva
Book Name: Padma Purana (Section: Brahma Khanda 25.15–18)
1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the
holy name of the Lord.
2) To consider the names of demigods like Lord Shiva or Lord Brahma to be equal to
or independent of the name of the Lord Vishnu.
3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.
4) To blaspheme the vedic scriptures or scriptures in pursuance to the vedic
version.
5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krishna to be an imagination.
6) To give some interpretations to the holy name of the Lord.
7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of the holy name.
8) To consider the chanting of Hare Krishna as one of the auspicious ritualistic
activities which are offered in the Vedas as frutive activities (Karma kanda).
9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name
10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy name and to maintain
material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter.
It is also an offense to be inattentive while chanting.
Every devotee who claims to be Vaishnava must guard against these offenses in order
to quickly achieve the desired success KRISHNA PREMA!!!

There is no other way of attaining perfection other than chanting

Hundreds and thousands of living entities meet death at every moment, but a foolish
living being nonetheless thinks himself deathless and does not prepare for death.
This is the most wonderful thing in this world.
however, more wonderful is that
sulabham bhagwannam, jihva ca vashavartini,
tathapi narakam yanti, Kim ascaryam atah param
The names of the Lord are freely available, the tongue acts according to our will,
still people are going to hellish planets
what more amazing thing can there be?
अथाघनामाभ्यपतन्महासुर-
स्तेषां सुखक्रीडनवीक्षणाक्षम: ।
नित्यं यदन्तर्निजजीवितेप्सुभि:
पीतामृतैरप्यमरै: प्रतीक्ष्यते ॥ १३ ॥
athāgha-nāmābhyapatan mahāsuras
teṣāṁ sukha-krīḍana-vīkṣaṇākṣamaḥ
nityaṁ yad-antar nija-jīvitepsubhiḥ
pītāmṛtair apy amaraiḥ pratīkṣyate
My dear King Parīkṣit, thereafter there appeared a great demon named Aghāsura,
whose death was being awaited even by the demigods. The demigods drank nectar every
day, but still they feared this great demon and awaited his death. This demon could
not tolerate the transcendental pleasure being enjoyed in the forest by the cowherd
boys.

Athah means thereafter, so there is going to be a change in topic now
in the beginning of this chapter Srila Sukadev Goswami describes the beautiful
pastimes of friendship of krsna
how they are playing in the forests, someone is misplacing the herding sticks
Krsna interchanged the lunch bags
someone is immitating the cranes or someone is swimming like a swan
A crane stands on one foot, so someone is immitating
someone runs in the forest with hands open imitating the flying birds
So Sukadev Goswami narrates these pastimes in the beginning and then he uses the
word Athah
So far you heard the beautiful playful pastimes but now there is a change in topic
There is demon named Agha, in Sanskrit agha means sin
He is not able to tolerate the sight of the children enjoying and playing in the
forest
This is the quality of a demon
A Vaishnava is the one who smiles upon seeing others happy and cries upon seeing
someone in trouble
Aghasur was such a ferocious demon that even the demigods who had taken the Amrita
were afraid that if he comes to the swarga,he will kill us

the nectar of the pastimes of Vraja are more nectarian than even the somaras
कृष्णमुखानघासुर:
कंसानुशिष्ट: स बकीबकानुज: ।
अयं तु मे सोदरनाशकृत्तयो-
र्द्वयोर्ममैनं सबलं हनिष्ये ॥ १४ ॥
dṛṣṭvārbhakān kṛṣṇa-mukhān aghāsuraḥ
kaṁsānuśiṣṭaḥ sa bakī-bakānujaḥ
ayaṁ tu me sodara-nāśa-kṛt tayor
dvayor mamainaṁ sa-balaṁ haniṣye
Aghāsura, who had been sent by Kaṁsa, was the younger brother of Pūtanā and
Bakāsura. Therefore when he came and saw Kṛṣṇa at the head of all the cowherd boys,
he thought, “This Kṛṣṇa has killed my sister and brother, Pūtanā and Bakāsura.
Therefore, in order to please them both, I shall kill this Kṛṣṇa, along with His
assistants, the other cowherd boys.”
kaṁsa-anuśiṣṭaḥ — sent by Kaṁsa - Srila Sukadev Goswami gives this adjective to
Aghasura
What association you have, will determine your quality
if you are elevated you will elevate those in your association
but if you are a practicing devotee then there is a chance that you are carried
away
Aghasur was the younger brother of Putana and Bakasur

Balaram was not present on this day
it was his birthday so he was busy giving alms
Krsna was in the forest along with other friends and calves
एते यदा मत्सुहृदोस्तिलाप:
कृतास्तदा नष्टसमा व्रजौकस: ।
प्राणे गते वर्ष्मसु का नु चिन्ता
प्रजासव: प्राणभृतो हि ये ते ॥ १५ ॥
ete yadā mat-suhṛdos tilāpaḥ
kṛtās tadā naṣṭa-samā vrajaukasaḥ
prāṇe gate varṣmasu kā nu cintā
prajāsavaḥ prāṇa-bhṛto hi ye te
Aghāsura thought: If somehow or other I can make Kṛṣṇa and His associates serve as
the last offering of sesame and water for the departed souls of my brother and
sister, then the inhabitants of Vrajabhūmi, for whom these boys are the life and
soul, will automatically die. If there is no life, there is no need for the body;
consequently, when their sons are dead, naturally all the inhabitants of Vraja will
die.

Just like there is no point of decorating a dead body with expensive jewels
there is no point of knowledge without bhakti
Krsna is the root of Braja
Brajavasis are leaves and flowers
if the tree is uprooted then leaves and flowers also die
just like the life of Dashrath was lost just by hearing the boons asked by Kaikeyi
he left his body by uttering Rama Rama Rama
Aghasur was not a serpent
This serpent body was a kind of magical body which he had taken
इति व्यवस्याजगरं बृहद् वपु:
स योजनायाममहाद्रिपीवरम् ।
व्यात्तगुहाननं तदा
पथि व्यशेत ग्रसनाशया खल: ॥ १६ ॥
iti vyavasyājagaraṁ bṛhad vapuḥ
sa yojanāyāma-mahādri-pīvaram
dhṛtvādbhutaṁ vyātta-guhānanaṁ tadā
pathi vyaśeta grasanāśayā khalaḥ
After thus deciding, that crooked Aghāsura assumed the form of a huge python, as
thick as a big mountain and as long as eight miles. Having assumed this wonderful
python’s body, he spread his mouth like a big cave in the mountains and lay down on
the road, expecting to swallow Kṛṣṇa and His associates the cowherd boys.

aja means goat and gara means throat, so one who can swallow an entire goat from
its throat
Aja means also one who is never born, so it is a name of Krsna, Aghasur has
swallowed Krsna so also he is called Ajagara.
What is our attitude when we are alone?
what we do see or say?
Are we agitated when someone crosses us from the wrong side while driving?
Are we agitated when there is less salt in the food?
And when we are among devotees, we behave as if we are the most elevated and pious.
So aghasur is teaching us that even if we are duplicitous, even if we are younger
sibling of Putana and Bakasur, if we decide to keep Krsna (Holyname) in our mouth
then we can be elevated
He is here with an ill intention
yet he rests as if it is a cave in a huge mountain
Having assumed this wonderful python’s body, he spread his mouth like a big cave in
the mountains and lay down on the road, expecting to swallow Kṛṣṇa and His
associates the cowherd boys.
धराधरोष्ठो जलदोत्तरोष्ठो
गिरिशृङ्गदंष्ट्र: ।
ध्वान्तान्तरास्यो वितताध्वजिह्व:
परुषानिलश्वासदवेक्षणोष्ण: ॥ १७ ॥

Aghasur's mouth was stinky because of unpious diet
devotees should keep oral hygiene
we should keep mouth clean, both teeth and tongue
Aghasur's teeth were uneven and dirty and is if they were a mountain range
eyes are filled with anger and revenge, they were red fire filled
Many times devotees are also filled with anger, they say, ' Don't you know who I
am?
they take pride in this, this is very wrong
this is not the quality of devotees

and even more pleasant is the moon
but even more pleasant is the association of a devotee
in the association of sadhu all the burning of Lust, anger and greed is gone
तादृशं सर्वे मत्वा वृन्दावनश्रियम् ।
व्यात्ताजगरतुण्डेन ह्युत्प्रेक्षन्ते स्म लीलया ॥ १८ ॥
dṛṣṭvā taṁ tādṛśaṁ sarve
matvā vṛndāvana-śriyam
vyāttājagara-tuṇḍena
hy utprekṣante sma līlayā
Upon seeing this demon’s wonderful form, which resembled a great python, the boys
thought that it must be a beautiful scenic spot of Vṛndāvana.
Vrindavan is bestowed with such natural beauty
the cowherd boys are amazed by seeing this huge mountain which seems like a huge
serpent lying.
they are innocent, they think that if we go further, we may find other animal forms
like structures
they are observing every part and trying to compare that with that of a serpent
Thereafter, they imagined it to be similar to the mouth of a great python. In other
words, the boys, unafraid, thought that it was a statue made in the shape of a
great python for the enjoyment of their pastimes.

if we start seeing beauty of Vrindavan even in death, then we may understand that
we have started developing qualities like that of a brajavasi
my Gurumaharaj says that he is a vrajavasi who sees Lakshmi even in Putana
it is a serpent and he is lying like a mountain
and the boys say that it is a mountain and it's form is like that of a serpent
अहो मित्राणि गदत सत्त्वकूटं पुर: स्थितम् ।
अस्मत्सङ्ग्रसनव्यात्तव्यालतुण्डायते न वा ॥ १९ ॥
aho mitrāṇi gadata
sattva-kūṭaṁ puraḥ sthitam
asmat-saṅgrasana-vyātta-
vyāla-tuṇḍāyate na vā
The boys said: Dear friends, is this creature dead, or is it actually a living
python with its mouth spread wide just to swallow us all? Kindly clear up this
doubt.
सत्यमर्ककरारक्तमुत्तराहनुवद् धनम् ।
अधराहनुवद्रोधस्तत्प्रतिच्छाययारुणम् ॥ २० ॥
satyam arka-karāraktam
uttarā-hanuvad ghanam
adharā-hanuvad rodhas
tat-praticchāyayāruṇam
Thereafter they decided: Dear friends, this is certainly an animal sitting here to
swallow us all. Its upper lip resembles a cloud reddened by the sunshine, and its
lower lip resembles the reddish shadows of a cloud.

On the left and right, the two depressions resembling mountain caves are the
corners of its mouth, and the high mountain peaks are its teeth.
they say that these teeth are like hooks so we can hang out lunch bags when we
enter
like a cloak room at the entrance of amusement parks
आस्तृतायाममार्गोऽयं रसनां प्रतिगर्जति ।
एषामन्तर्गतं ध्वान्तमेतदप्यन्तराननम् ॥ २२ ॥
āstṛtāyāma-mārgo ’yaṁ
rasanāṁ pratigarjati
eṣāṁ antar-gataṁ dhvāntam
etad apy antar-ānanam
In length and breadth the animal’s tongue resembles a broad traffic-way, and the
inside of its mouth is very, very dark, like a cave in a mountain.
it's tongue looks like a royal red carpet entry
Gurumaharaj was once saying that I was travelling to UK for a bhagwad katha, and I
was stuck in traffic it seemed like as I was stuck in the mouth of Aghasur
Once he was in the MRI and again he had the same consciousness, he was ready to
deliver bhagwad katha even lying on bed and said just like Bhishma dev spoke lying
on the bed of arrows

तद्दग्धसत्त्वदुर्गन्धोऽप्यन्तरामिषगन्धवत् ॥ २३ ॥
dāvoṣṇa-khara-vāto ’yaṁ
śvāsavad bhāti paśyata
tad-dagdha-sattva-durgandho
’py antar-āmiṣa-gandhavat
The hot fiery wind is the breath coming out of his mouth, which is giving off the
bad smell of burning flesh because of all the dead bodies he has eaten.
अस्मान् किमत्र ग्रसिता निविष्टा-
तथा चेद् बकवद् विनङ्
क्ष्यति ।
क्षणादनेनेति बकार्युशन्मुखं
वीक्ष्योद्धसन्त: करताडनैर्ययु: ॥ २४ ॥
asmān kim atra grasitā niviṣṭān
ayaṁ tathā ced bakavad vinaṅkṣyati
kṣaṇād aneneti bakāry-uśan-mukhaṁ
vīkṣyoddhasantaḥ kara-tāḍanair yayuḥ
Then the boys said, “Has this living creature come to swallow us? If he does so, he
will immediately be killed like Bakāsura, without delay.” Thus they looked at the
beautiful face of Kṛṣṇa, the enemy of Bakāsura, and, laughing loudly and clapping
their hands, they entered the mouth of the python.
they are so confident about their leader
they say that even if he has come with the ill intention to swallow us then he will
be killed by our friend just like he had killed Bakasur

stole butter together, then why did you go in the mouth of Bakasur alone?

so here everyone will be following with Krsna
everyone is now turning behind and looking at the beautiful face of Krsna
their mood is that O Krsna, we are seeing you at last before entering, if anything
happens to us then please take care
this is also a lesson, whenever we leave home to go to office or market or
anywhere, we must pray to our lordships to save us from being attacked by maya
So now all the friends are laughing and clapping seeing Krsna
One Acarya says that the friends are clapping to test the structure that is it
disturbed by the clap noise, if it moves then we shall leave immediately
if it doesn't mean it is a cave and we shall enter
another Acarya says that they are clapping because that are seeing the face of
Krsna and one should always clap in kirtan seeing the Lord
one Acarya says that Krsna and Maya are face to face to this is a rare sight.
