I. Objectives

A. Content Standard: Demonstrate understanding of addition and subtraction of whole number up to 100 including money.

B. Performance Standard: Is able to apply addition and subtraction of whole numbers up to 100 including money in mathematical
problems and real-life situations.

C. Learning Objectives:

Cognitive Domain: Recognize, and represent one digit numbers with minuends through 18

Affective Domain: Appreciate the value of subtraction

Psychomotor Domain: Solve one digit number with minuends through 18 in subtraction.

B. Probe and Respond


- Subtraction- re moving or taking away a number
from another number.
There are 3 parts of subtraction
1. Minuend – The bigger number where another
number is subtracted from.
2. Subtrahend – The smaller number to be taken
away or removed.
3. Difference- The answer in subtraction

Crossing out Methods
Students read the problem
Example: There are 8 apples in the box. Roy ate 3
apples. How many apples were left?

- How many apples are there in all?


- Very good!
- There are 8 apples in all. And how many apples
were eaten?
- Yes! There are 3 apples eaten. So how many apples
are left?
- We will put X the number of apples that Roy eaten
so, let us cross out three.
- Let us now count the number of apples that are not
cross out.
- How many apples that are gonna cross put?
1,2,3,4,5
- Very good there are 5
- 8 apples take away 3 is 5 apples .
- Let us know right in a number sentence.
- 8 apples – 3 apples eaten = 5 apples left.
- 8= minuend, 3= subtrahend, 5= Difference
