You’ve just been selected to become the host of a short podcast called “5 Questions”. In
this podcast, the host asks five questions to an interviewee. The five questions can be
on any subject(s), but should be interesting, not just “what’s your favorite color,” “what’s
your major”, “where are you from”, etc. Your goal is to have a conversation that people
will want to listen to, not just get five answsers.

You can use any recording device but treat it as is it’s a microphone. In other words,
place it close to the person speaking, don’t just put it on a table and capture sound.

For your finished piece, you will need:

• A recorded introduction in which you identify both yourself and the person being
interviewed. For example, “I’m Rocky Raven and this is five questions. Joining
me today is Rachel Raven. Rachel, welcome to 5 questions. My first question
is…”

• A music bed at both the beginning and end of your podcast.

• The music loop should fade under the start and fade up and out at the end.

• There is no specific length for your podcast, usually 3-5 minutes will work. You
will edit the audio for length and to improve the overall quality.

Before the next class, conduct your interview and then upload the audio to an online
storage of your choice. In class, you’ll download it from your online storage for
production.

For the music loop, you can use any source. Just make sure that the music is an
instrumental.

Final Product

The final product will be graded based on the quality of the editing and the overall quality
of your interview. When finished, export your podcast as an MP3.
