Advantages and disadvantages of plastic surgery

In today’s world many people worry about their looks and indulge themselves in different ways to better
their appearance. One of those ways is plastic surgery, which has gained popularity in modern years. But
even today it is quite a controversial option that makes a person think about the advantages and
disadvantages of plastic surgery.

The advantages of plastic surgery are quite prominent. To begin with, plastic surgery boosts low self-
esteem into new possible highs. Any flaw that is bothering a person can be changed for the better with
only some money and recovery time. Also, plastic surgery could become lifesaving. People with
disfigured faces or bodies after accidents or as a result of birth defects can get plastic surgeries to fit in
better in society or reverse deadly effects and help them live a normal life.

On the other hand, the disadvantages of plastic surgeries are extremely harsh. It is undeniable that
instead of helping plastic surgeries can cause more harm than good. For example, to some people plastic
surgeries can cause addictions. Whether it would be an opioid addiction or the addiction to plastic
surgery itself, it is quite a big concern to be taken into possibility before going through with plans to go
under the knife. Moreover the plastic surgery itself could be dangerous. A person may never know if the
surgery will be a success, perhaps the wound could get infected, or the body could reject the new
changes and disfigure the body and ultimately, it could even lead to death.

All things considered, although plastic surgeries could have life threatening effects, the advantages
outweigh the disadvantages. In my opinion, plastic surgery can save a person’s life, either emotionally or
physically, and I believe that is worth risking everything else considered.
