1. Purpose:

To define the procedure for handling embroidery work in a systematic,


quality-assured, and efficient manner from design input to final output.

2. Scope:

Applicable to all embroidery operations including computerized and hand


embroidery within the garment manufacturing unit.

3. Responsibility:

 Embroidery Supervisor

 QA/QC Inspector

 Machine Operator

 Merchandiser (Design Approval & Coordination)

4. Procedure:

A. Embroidery Design & Sample Approval

 Receive the approved artwork or embroidery file from the


merchandiser.

 Convert artwork into digitized embroidery file (.dst, .emb, etc.).

 Run a trial on similar fabric and base as bulk fabric.

 Submit sample for internal and/or buyer approval.

 Store approved sample and file for reference.


B. Fabric Preparation

 Cut fabric panels or parts as per marker plan.

 Check grainline, notches, and fabric defects.

 Apply stabilizer (fusing/interlining/backing) where required.

 Mark embroidery placement using template or CAD marks.

C. Machine Setup

 Load the correct embroidery program to the machine.

 Attach correct thread colors and verify tension settings.

 Use appropriate frame/hoop for fabric type and thickness.

 Conduct machine calibration and daily maintenance checks.

D. Production Embroidery Execution

 Mount fabric panels carefully to avoid stretching.

 Start embroidery, monitoring for thread breaks, color mismatch, or


misalignment.

 Remove any defective pieces immediately for rework.

 Store completed pieces on a clean and flat surface to avoid creases.

E. Quality Control

 Inspect each piece for:

o Placement accuracy

o Thread tension

o Missed stitches or thread breakages

o Color accuracy

o Embroidery damage or puckering


 Rework rejected panels as per QA instructions.

F. Post-Embroidery Handling

 Trim threads neatly and carefully.

 Iron/press if required using proper temperature.

 Remove backing if temporary stabilizers were used.

 Send embroidered parts to stitching section or next process.

5. Safety & Cleanliness

 Ensure no loose threads or sharp tools are left near machines.

 Operators must wear protective gear (e.g., finger guards).

 Keep embroidery area dust-free and threads stored properly.

6. Documentation

 Maintain records of:

o Design approvals

o Embroidery file versions
