INSTRUCTIONS ON TECHNICAL ASPECTS


1. Provide a cover page on which you will indicate your personal details.
2. Provide a title to this project. The title should be based on the content covered and the
problem stated in the problem statement. You should therefore read relevant material on the
content covered.
3. Compile a table of contents. There must be an agreement between the topics covered and
the page numbers. Use the same numbering system given in the project. The items offered
should also appear in your table of contents as completion of the project.
4. This project will require extensive reading and writing skills from the learner. This will involve
thorough research and obtaining information on discrimination and human rights violations,
the role of the media in a democratic society and the responsibilities of different levels of
government, as well as information on how to maintain safe and healthy environments.
5. Learners will be expected to present their answers in meaningful and meaningful
sentences/phrases.
6. Learners will need adequate guidance at the start of the project and progress must be
monitored throughout.
7. Your teacher will explain the assessment process and the assessment criteria that apply must
be discussed with you in advance.
8. Complete all the activities indicated in the project.
9. Submit each section according to the submission schedule - a clear submission schedule will
be attached to the project.
10. Different sources must be used to complete the project. Consult at least four (4) sources so
that your project is well rounded.
11. All sources used must be acknowledged.

A simple Harvard reference style can be used.


For example: According to Brown (2019), human rights violations cannot be solved. / Brown (2019)
considers human rights violations to be an insurmountable problem. (This is a paraphrased quote)
Or, "human rights abuse cannot be solved". (Brown, 2019). (This is a direct quote).

13. Although learners will spend time outside of class time gathering resources and information,
the completion of the project must be facilitated by the teacher in class time.

PURPOSE Investigate any human rights violation or discrimination that has taken place in
your community
ASSESSMENT Activities 1 – 6 will expect you to display knowledge, skills, values which are to
be demonstrated. The project requires extended reading and writing on the
part of the learner. The project will involve thorough investigation into and
sourcing information on human rights violations.
All assessment criteria applicable to the project must be discussed with the
learners prior to the commencement of the project.

Human rights violations / discrimination take place in our communities every day. Too many of us
have become de-sensitized to these issues. Our challenge in becoming responsible citizens of our
country is to become better informed, become proactive in raising awareness and to find solutions to
the problems around us.

4.1 Social media platforms can be wonderful and full of interesting information but for many, it
can be a dark and scary place, with known and anonymous trolls using the many social
media platforms to reign down their abuse.
