• Definition- A Government is the system or a group of people with the authority to govern a country
or a state.
The Government is primarily responsible for maintaining law and order, ensuring national security,
providing public services,
managing the economy, supporting social welfare, handling foreign relations, and protecting the
environment.

• A Government can be of many types- Democracy, Republic, Monarchy, Aristocracy and Dictatorship
and so on.

• Ans: A country or state needs a government to maintain law and order, protect citizens, and
provide essential services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
It also manages the economy, enforces justice, and ensures stability for societal development.

• Ans: A limited government, A constitutional government is a limited government because its
powers are restricted by a constitution, ensuring accountability and protecting citizens' rights.
It follows the rule of law, divides power among branches (separation of powers), enforces checks and
balances, and guarantees individual freedoms. This prevents authoritarian rule and ensures a fair,
democratic system.
• Central/National Government – Oversees Defense, foreign relations, economy, taxation, and
national policies, ensuring unity across the country.
• State/Regional Government – Manages education, healthcare, transport, policing, and state laws,
adapting national policies to local needs.
• Local Government – Handles water supply, sanitation, local roads, public safety, and community
welfare, directly serving residents' daily needs.
