THANKSGIVING MASS
HAWAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Commentator’s Copy
1
Commentator: Good morning my brothers and sisters in Christ!
We are all gathered today to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to
entrust the movers and the graduating class to our Lord, and as an act of
thanksgiving for the success of the school year 2023-2024, as it ends.
Learners, teachers, parents, brothers and sisters, our celebration today is
more than just a thanksgiving. We stand before the Lord, willing and ready
to give our lives to him in the service of others.
May this eucharistic celebration binds us to make ourselves the neighbor of
every person, and to help one another as we go on with our lives, walking in
path prepared for us by our Almighty God.
Let us all pray that God may give us enough strength of purpose to hang on
our mission and vision and find fulfillment in our expression of love today
for one another.
May the wisdom of God, the Father, fill our minds. May the love of Christ fill
our hearts. May the inspiration of the Holy Spirit move us to action.
Let us all rise and welcome our celebrant, Reverend Father Felbert V. Reyes,
our Priest In-charge, as we sing with the choir the entrance hymn.

Homily
Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
4
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
Prayers of the Faithful
Priest: Brothers and sisters, we present our prayers to God, the
Father. We ask for the gift of being able to listen attentively
and be strengthened by the Word and example of His Son.
Let us pray, too, that the pain and death of His Son may
bear fruit in us and in all as we say:
“Lord, make us prophets and let us live in hope now and everywhere.”
Leader: Father, may the leaders of the church, the Holy Father Pope
Francis, our bishops, and priests, continue to be the light and
guide of all humankind in imitation of Jesus Christ. We pray.
People: Lord, make us prophets and let us live in hope now and
everywhere.
Leader: May our government leaders be committed to the building of
Your kingdom of truth, justice, and love so that harmony and
peace may reign in every heart, home and in our country. We
pray.
People: Lord, make us prophets and let us live in hope now and
everywhere.
5
Leader: May all the teachers of Hawan National High School and all the
teachers around the world work together earnestly to mold us
into the kind of person that we are. Make them always feel the
warmth and tenderness of Your love so that they may continue
to transmit that warmth and tenderness to others especially the
students and the poor. We pray.
People: Lord, make us prophets and let us live in hope now and
everywhere.
Leader: May the students of Hawan National High School generously
share their talents and gifts in uplifting the condition of the
poor and in building a better world now and in the future. We
pray.
People: Lord, make us prophets and let us live in hope now and
everywhere.
Leader: Father, forgive us for the injustices we perpetuate and give us
the courage to fight for the rights of all people. Prepare our
hearts so that these Closing Exercises that we will be having
may be a grace for us and bring us closer to Jesus, our Lord. We
pray.
People: Lord, make us prophets and let us live in hope now and
everywhere.
Priest: Loving Father, You have given and continue to give us
much blessings. With our blessed Mother’s loving care and
protection for us, may we remain joyfully grateful and
faithful to You forever and may we understand the
language of trust and mercy, of reconciliation and
forgiveness, of freedom and understanding, in Jesus Christ,
our Lord.
People: Amen.
