E: Advocating for Cultivating Compassion,

Equality, and Positive Transformation Against Neglecting Campus
Equity - Addressing Gender Insensitivity and Campus Inclusivity
BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) has received several reports of some students’
experiences of gender-based discrimination, misgendering, and the use of insensitive
language during classroom discussion and informal interactions. While this issue may
seem incessant and prevalent, the authors have clear understanding that compassion,
equality, and fair treatments of the students in the campus must be uphold to keep healthy
and inclusive relationship among the students. Addressing these challenges requires a
well-coordinated approach that raises awareness and fosters respect in the campus
community and to all genders. To achieve this, project ACCEPTANCE is formed.

OBJECTIVES

1. This project aims to produce symposiums and activities.

2. This project aims to provide a common goal for students to achieve.
3. This project aims to establish connection and healthy relationship among the
students; and
4. Raise Awareness about gender sensitivity and inclusivity among students.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

All students in University of Mindanao Tagum College-Mabini Campus.

DESCRIPTIONS OF ACTIVITIES

Symposium

First part of the event will be the symposium. Wherein there will be a guest
speaker that will talk about these topics: Gender Awareness and Sensitivity
Seminar, discussions on gender-based violence and inclusivity, and interactive
workshops on gender stereotypes and socialization. Some students will be asked
to engage to share experiences on this matter.

Team Building

This activity will be the second part of the project. Where the students will
be group to build relationship among each other through the following activities:

1. TRUE THE FIRE

In this activity, the participants will write down in a piece of

paper about their reflection of who they are. The facilitators
will pick five (5) from the participants to share it in to the
group to break the misconceptions and build empathy.

2. COMMON KUMONG

The students will be given a challenge to group themselves

with people who share the same sentiments as they do.

3. LARONG PINOY

The participants will play different kinds of Laro ng Lahi such

as Patintero, Bulong Pari, and Agawan Base. These games may
bring back the old tradition where discrimination does not exist, by
not minding what they are, and promote togetherness. It is not just
all about fun but teamwork, strategy and trust regardless of who
they are with. It will make individuals realize that all of us are equal,
and gender does not matter after all but our actions do.

Social Media Platform

Third part of the project would be setting up our very own social media as a
means to remind and communicate ideas to a group of people, which may target
to a wider audience, and may also be a good start to break stereotypes outside
the campus, not just students. We arrived to this idea since one of our challenges
is that it is expected that not everyone will attend to the said symposium and join
such team building. This will serve as an opportunity for us to express and remind
everyone about gender acceptance, inclusivity and experiences through illustrative
pubmats or publication materials, and posting of inspirational facts or testimonies.
The page will be named as "Project ACCEPTANCE" by ACMMP (2025).

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

Through this project proposal, participants are expected to:

1. Increase awareness and understanding on the issue — which results every

individuals commit to realizations that may influence privilege and oppression, and
build empathy and open-mindedness;

2. Promote acceptance — through such activities, they are able to explore their
interests and emotions freely, making them more confident regardless of who they
stand their selves up to;

3. Improve students relationship to each other — we expect to create a more

compassionate environment where no one will be afraid in their surroundings and
develop a positive self-image; and

4. Reduce discrimination — now, we are able to foster a culture of love, acceptance

and inclusivity. To promote their well-being and understand their worth.
