SUB-TOPIC DISCRIMINATION AND VIOLTION OF HUMAN


RIGHTS AND THE IMPACT OF THE MEDIA.
PURPOSE To investigate Gender- Based Violence as the human
rights violation/discrimination that takes place in your
community and how the media can influence it.
ASSESSMENT Activities 1 – 8 expect learners to display knowledge,
skills and values as well as related competencies to be
demonstrated. The project requires extended reading
and writing on the part of the learner. The project will
require learners to do thorough investigation into and
sourcing information on gender-based violence. All
assessment criteria applicable to the project must
be discussed with the learners prior to the
commencement of the project.

CONTENT • Evaluate your own position when dealing with


discrimination and human rights violations, taking
into account the Bill of Rights.
• Analyse and debate the role of the media in a
democratic society.

teacher during class time. Learners will need adequate
guidance at the outset of the project and progress

INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

TEACHERS
• Teachers should give the necessary guidance prior to commencement and during
completion of the project and monitor the progress of learners throughout.
• Learners will need adequate guidance at the outset of the project and progress
should be monitored throughout the process.
• All assessment criteria applicable to the project must be discussed with the
learners prior to the commencement of the project.
• When preparing a project, consider these minimum requirements. - The project
will involve thorough investigation into sourcing information on the selected
content from the curriculum.
