Compulsory value-based education is the only remedy for inculcating values

The Need for Compulsory Value-Based Education
By Asha
In today’s rapidly evolving world, the erosion of moral and ethical values has
become a pressing concern. With rising incidents of violence, dishonesty, and
intolerance, it is clear that academic excellence alone cannot shape responsible
citizens. Compulsory value-based education is the need of the hour to nurture
empathy, integrity, and a sense of responsibility in the young minds who are the
future of our country.
Introducing value-based education in schools will not only help students
distinguish right from wrong but also develop a strong moral compass. Lessons on
compassion, respect, honesty, and social harmony will build character and promote
emotional intelligence, which are essential for personal and societal well-being.
Furthermore, instilling values at an early age can act as a powerful deterrent to
crime. A society grounded in moral principles will naturally see a decline in
unethical behavior and criminal tendencies.
Hence, making value-based education a compulsory part of the curriculum is not
just a preventive measure but a long-term investment in creating a just, peaceful,
and progressive nation. Schools must become the foundation of a value-rich
society, guiding children not only toward success but also toward goodness.
