Responsibilities as Pilling Safety Officer:
Obtain, review, and manage work permits as per company and safety regulations.
Ensure all work is carried out under the approved permit conditions.
Coordinate with safety officers and supervisors to comply with HSE policies.
Conduct job site safety inspections before commencing work.
Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement necessary control measures.
Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to worksite safety protocols.
Ensure proper documentation of permits and work activities.
Maintain logs of permit issuance, extensions, and closures.
Assist in emergency response situations as needed.
Ensure all team members are trained and up-to-date on HSE standards and procedures related to work permits.
Review piling risk assessments, method statements, and lifting plans.
Approve and monitor safety permits (e.g., excavation, lifting, confined space).
Inspect piling rigs, cranes, augers, and other equipment for safe operation.
Ensure exclusion zones are established around active piling areas.
Monitor the stability and proper setup of piling equipment.
Enforce use of PPE (helmets with chin straps, gloves, safety boots, etc.).
Verify that only trained personnel operate piling equipment.
Supervise safe movement of heavy machinery and cranes on site
Check for nearby hazards (overhead lines, underground services, soft ground).
Ensure safe access around boreholes, pile caps, and excavation areas.
Monitor environmental conditions (vibration, noise, dust).
Conduct daily toolbox talks focused on piling-specific hazards.
Identify and eliminate unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
Ensure open bores and deep excavations are barricaded properly.
Maintain emergency equipment (first aid kits, fire extinguishers).
Implement emergency plans for rig collapse, entrapment, or ground failure.
Keep safety documentation, checklists, and inspection reports up to date.
Report incidents, near-misses, and carry out root cause analysis.
Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
