What Is Subject-Verb Agreement?
Subject-verb agreement means the verb must match the subject in a sentence. If the
subject is singular, the verb should also be singular. If the subject is plural, the verb
should be plural too.
1. Singular Subject = Singular Verb
Examples:
● He plays soccer.
● The cat sleeps on the bed.
● My friend likes pizza.
🔹 Add “s” or “es” to the verb when the subject is he, she, or it.
2. Plural Subject = Plural Verb
Examples:
● They play soccer.
● The cats sleep on the bed.
● My friends like pizza.
🔹 Do not add “s” to the verb when the subject is I, you, we, or they.
3. Special Subjects: I and You
Even though "I" and "you" are singular, they use plural verbs.
Examples:
● I like ice cream.
● You run fast.
Check Your Sentences:
● ✅ The bird flies. (Correct)
● ❌ The bird fly. (Wrong)

✅ Tip to Remember:
🔸 Singular subject → verb ends in -s
🔸 Plural subject → verb has no -s
