Nowadays, whereas young workers receive frequent acclamations upholding their problem-
solving skills and relentless pursuit of knowledge, they are also censured for being restive and
arrogant. From my perspective, I maintain that both remarks about the qualities of new
generations in the workforce are valid and should therefore be factored in when navigating the
occupational landscape.
To commence with, that young employees tend to possess highly-developed analytic
capabilities and a zest for knowledge is irrefutable. In this constantly-evolving society, a majority
of educational institutions strive to equip students with such competencies, which are deemed
prerequisite for survival and flourishing. As a result, learners are exposed to scenarios
demanding cognitive reasoning abilities at an early stage, allowing them to develop the skill to a
profound extent. Moreover, from their own conscience, youngsters acknowledge the imperative
to make unrelenting efforts in order to gain a competitive edge over fellow applicants in a
continuously eliminating world. To illustrate, Austin Russel, one of the youngest self-made
billionaire, has consistently been commended on articles regarding his analytic abilities, which
he claims to have made a major contribution to his outstanding entrepreneurship.
However, it is inevitable that this fast-paced era in which the youth are nurtured creates a
generation of impatient and egoistic individuals. In a chaotic society where fraudulence is
prevalent, there emerges a gradual decline in mutual trust among citizens, which results from
the fact that people have to cater to themselves and that total faith in a non-acquaintance is
possibly counterproductive. Hence, a sense of egoism and restiveness is lurking in younger
generations, threatening to create a world full of scepticism. Additionally, in a volatile working
environment, individuals must prove their potential in order to maintain a sustainable position,
thus culminating in the thirst for superiority and egoistic predilections. As such, characteristics
such as empathy or synergy, notwithstanding their irrevocable roles in the contemporary world,
are repeatedly assumed a subsidiary role.
To encapsulate, in regard of what has been closely analyzed above, it is apparent that we are
living in a generation of outstanding individuals with extraordinary analytics skills and
willingness to learn, yet are concerningly impatient and arrogant. Therefore, I believe that we
should dedicate extensive endeavors to leverage the unfavorable traits, rather than
pigeonholing them as being a ramification of the desirable qualities.
