Excavations
Overhead utility lines noted and precautions taken to avoid contact with

Utility companies been notified of proposed excavation work
All tools, equipment, and shoring materials readily available prior to job
start up
Spoil pile stored at least two feet from the edge of the excavation
Barricades, stop logs, properly placed, if needed
Excavation five feet or deeper correctly sloped, benched, shored or is a
trench box used
Soil classification been made by a competent person
Step ladder or other means of egress provided in trenches or
excavations 1,5 meter or deeper
When used ladders extend three feet above the surface are, they
secured
Shoring and shielding systems inspected daily by a competent person
Trenches backfilled as soon a work is completed/or barricaded
Excavation inspected daily or more frequently when conditions could
affect the soil
From work designed, fabricated, erected, supported, braced and
maintained to support vertical and lateral loads
Adequate barricade in place in all unsafe open areas
Emergency preparedness plan
Fire equipment’s available and valid
First aid kit available and items still valid
Fire extinguisher location accessible and marked
Fire extinguishers provided for:
 Office
 Storage areas
 Diesel bund wall (if available)
