Description and uses:
● A type of hammer
● Has a larger head usually made of wood, rubber,
etc
● Used in woodwork for driving a tool like a chisel
● Also used to strike a surface

Safety considerations:
● Wear safety glasses/goggles
● Always inspect the mallet before use
● If the mallet head or any parts are loose, don’t use it
● Never strike two mallets together as they might
break upon impact
● Always have a firm grip to prevent the mallet from
bouncing off the material or slipping from your hand

Description and uses:
● A crimping tool is a device used to conjoin two
pieces of metal by deforming one or both of them
in a way that causes them to hold each other.
The result of the tool's work is called a crimp.
● A good example of crimping is the process of
affixing a connector to the end of a cable.

sealing bottles and vials or making impressions

● Always ensure the bench vise is securely fitted to the
work table, with bolts placed in the right order.
● Keep the stationary jaw at a length of slightly beyond the
working table to keep the long pieces away from
interfering. In fact, always have a glance over the work
surface and see for yourself whether the table or the
surface holds firm under duress.
● Keep the vise and material size at a substantially
compatible range.
● Check the clamping of the vise on the surface to see
whether it offers full clamping.

● The jaws of a spring clamp usually have either soft
plastic or rubber pads to protect the material being
clamped from damage, while maintaining a firm grip on
the workpiece. This tool is useful to hold down material (insert picture here)

Safety considerations:
● Make sure that the size of the clamp is large
enough and tough enough to hold the material
● Make sure that any screws in the clamp are
secured properly
● Close the jaws until the clamp feels tight. For
example, when gluing, some glue will be
squeezed out, a sign that it is tight enough

Place the try square blade across the material you want to test
or mark. The thicker part of the handle should extend over the

Table Saw
Description and uses:
● Description: A table with a saw blade jutting up out of it.
These saws have long pieces of metal that are parallel to
the blade. These are called fences, and you adjust them
to the width that you’re cutting wood. When you make
your cuts, you snug your wood up against it and push it
through the blade.
● Usage: It’s designed to either make long cuts with the
grain of the wood, called rips, or shorter cuts against it.
Safety considerations:
● Do not wear gloves while operating a table saw.
● Keep the floor in front of the saw free of cut-offs and piled
up sawdust.

● Wear short sleeves, leave the ties at the office, and junk

Description and uses:
● A spade bit is a wood-boring drill bit that is flat with
two sharp lips. Its design allows for it to scoop
material out of a bore-hole quickly. Spade bits are
easy to modify I believe. This might be necessary if (insert picture here)
you need a hole that is slightly smaller than one of
the sizes of bit that you own, or if you want to angle
the sides of your spade bit to drill a tapered hole.
