Upgrade Guide 1 Before You Start

2 Before You Start

Before the upgrade, refer to the Quick Start and Configuration Guide delivered with the
product to complete the installation and configuration.

2.1 Upgrade Schemes

The overall upgrade scheme is as follows:
 Upgrading a single endpoint or batch upgrading multiple endpoints using the upgrade
tool
 Importing the software resource file on the web interface to upgrade an endpoint
 Manually upgrading an endpoint through the touchscreen
 Automatically upgrading an endpoint through the network management system (NMS)
 Manually upgrading an endpoint using a USB flash drive

2.2 Requirements on the Source Version

HUAWEI IdeaHub Pro, S, and Enterprise
21.0.T1 and 21.0.T2 cannot be directly upgraded to 21.0.RC2. They must be upgraded to
21.0.RC1 and then to 21.0.RC2 or later.
The 21.0.200 and later versions cannot be rolled back to versions earlier than 21.0.200.

HUAWEI IdeaHub Board Pro

The 21.0.RC1 version cannot be rolled back to the earlier demonstration version.
A demonstration version cannot be directly upgraded to a resource-customized version. You
need to upgrade the demonstration version to a non-customized version first.

Upgrade Guide 1 Before You Start

2.3 Impact of the Upgrade

2.3.1 Impact on the System During the Upgrade
Impact on Services
The endpoint can perform a silent upgrade when it is idle. The silent upgrade will be
automatically paused during a meeting or projection or when a third-party app plays a video,
without any impact on services.

If the endpoint is working in Windows mode, perform the following operations to prevent the current
services from being affected:
If the message "Information A new version [xx.xx.xx] has been detected. Upgrade now?" is displayed on
the touchscreen, tap Cancel.
If the message "Downloaded" is displayed on the touchscreen, tap Cancel.

Impact on Network Communication

The endpoint upgrade will occupy a certain amount of network bandwidth, which has little
impact on network communication.

2.3.2 Impact on the System After the Upgrade

In 21.0.300.3 and later versions, the endpoint does not support HDCP.
In 21.0.300.6 and later versions, if the fastboot needs to be updated, the endpoint will restart
twice consecutively.

HUAWEI IdeaHub Pro, S, and Enterprise

The upgrade from RC1 to HUAWEI IdeaHub 21.0.RC2 or later has no impact on the system.
The upgrade from T1 or T2 to RC1 has the following impacts on the system:
 Due to change of the security policy, the third-party apps need to be reinstalled after the
upgrade.
 The original content in the file manager of the endpoint will be lost (the file storage path
is changed). If necessary, back up the content in advance.
 After the upgrade, the endpoint needs to be reactivated. The reactivation process is as
follows:
a. Unbind the endpoint on the platform.
b. Upgrade to the RC1 version.
c. Restore factory settings.
d. Use the original activation code to activate the endpoint again. If the activation
fails, contact Huawei technical support engineers to update the activation code.
 When a sample device is upgraded to 21.0.0.SPC1, the toggle for the Voice Tracking
function is not displayed on the touchscreen UI, but the status of the function before the
upgrade remains unchanged. If you need to change the settings, log in to the web
interface and choose System Settings > General > Tracking mode > Voice
tracking/Auto-Framing.
