3. Elicit the answers to complete the prompts. Erase

VOCABULARY

T-Ss 1. Hold up a pencil and ask the students "What's this?"


S-T 2. Elicit the answer 'It's a pencil' and model and drill
T-Ss the structure 'This is a pencil.'Place the pencil on a

T-S 3. Point to the pencil and ask "What's that?"Elicit and

T-Ss the bags filled with classroom object realia. Remove
Ss-T an item and have a converstion. Example Dialogue:
S-T - Teacher: What's this?Students: It's a/an (classroom

2. Repeat the procedure with different classroom
objects from the bag to introduce the activity.
10 Production 3. Pass the bag to a student and have him/her repeat
the procedure, modeling the language where
necessary.
4. Have the students continue to pass the bag. Each
time, the student with the object should produce the
structure using 'this' and the other students should use
'that'.

GRAMMAR

T-Ss 1. Place a pencil on the desk of a confident student.


Ss-T Ask "Do you have a pencil?" and elicit the answer 'Yes'.
S-S 2. Introduce and model the structure 'Yes, I do.'Ask the
