Wheel of Self-Care Strategies
© 2018 School Counseling is Magical
Teach kids and adults the importance of practicing daily self-care in order to improve mood, and
decrease anxiety and stress. These self-care wheels are a visual and hands-on activity to
practice self-care strategies. Kids (or adults), will either draw a picture of a self-care strategy
that they would be willing to practice or cut and paste the given self-care strategies. Wheels can
be used as practice or in times of need.

Directions:
1) Review the definition of self-care: an activity that someone does deliberately on a regular
basis to take care of their mind and body.
2) Decide which cover and middle section you would like to use (includes blank ones for you to
draw on). Print onto cardstock.
3) Decide whether you would like to drawn your own self-care strategies or pick from the given
strategies. If you would like to draw; draw or write a picture of one strategies that you could
use for each category of self-care. If you choose to cut and paste, pick one strategy from
each category and then cut and paste the section onto one of the 5 sections on the “wagon
wheel” circle. Once you are finished, you can laminate the pieces for durability.
4) Attach the wheel together (cover, 5 self-care categories, and then self-care strategies)
using a brad. Punch a whole through all three pieces of cardstock and attach with the brad.
5) Spin the wheel by matching up the kind of self-care needed with the strategy that you can
practice.
6) Encourage kids or adults to go home and practice the strategies on their wheel.
