4.4 Explain what the GUI of a computer is and mention where you will
find the GUI. (2)

 The GUI is the graphical user interface provided by Microsoft


Windows. 
 You will find the GUI on the first page after you have switched on the
computer. This page is called the desktop. 

Tabbed browsing is a Web browser feature in which several websites


may be opened in one browser window,  versus the traditional method
where each website is opened in an individual browser window. 

Adware is software that displays unwanted advertisements on


your computer.  Adware programs will tend to serve you pop-

Phishing is a type of social engineering attack  often used to

Read the scenario below carefully as the questions that follow are based on it.

The Fern is a new nursery that opened its doors


in your town. They aim to offer a wide variety of
trees, shrubs, plants, succulent’s, seedlings,
pots, fertilizers, compost, and other garden
accessories, at affordable prices.

You love nature, and the owner of the nursery


asked you to assist them with administration on
the computer.

9.1 It is very important for companies to work according to a budget.


Advise the company on the type of application program they should
use for budgeting. Motivate your answer. (2)

Spreadsheet or Excel 
Main purpose of Excel is to do calculations and create charts. 

9.2 Why is it better for the company to use pdf documents? (2)

Cannot change, read only. 


Software to read pdf documents are available for free on the internet. 

9.3 Your advice to the owner of the shop is to not use too many animated
