BY S.RIA

MATERIALS USED IN THE PRODUCT

 SANDALWOOD POWDER
 BAMBOO STICKS
 MAKKO POWDER
 ROSE WATER

USES OF INGREDIENT
SANDALWOOD POWDER
 Aromatherapy: The aroma of sandalwood is calming and grounding, making it popular in
aromatherapy. It’s used to relieve stress, anxiety, and to promote mental clarity and relaxation.

 Traditional Medicine: In some traditional medicines, sandalwood powder is used to help

alleviate symptoms of various ailments, including digestive issues and respiratory problems.

 Spiritual Benefits: Sandalwood is often used in spiritual practices and rituals for its purifying
properties. It is believed to enhance meditation, concentration, and connect individuals with a
sense of inner peace.

BAMBOO STICKS
Cost-Effective: Bamboo is often less expensive than traditional hardwoods due to its rapid
growth rate and widespread availability. This cost-effectiveness makes it an attractive option for
many applications.

 Aesthetic Appeal: Bamboo has a natural, sleek appearance that enhances the aesthetic of
products and spaces. It is often used in interior design for flooring, furniture, and decor items.
 Versatility: Bamboo sticks can be used in a variety of ways, from construction and crafts to
gardening and cooking. They serve as supports for plants, components in DIY projects, and even
as skewers for grilling.

 Environmental Sustainability: Bamboo grows rapidly and can be harvested in 3-5

years, making it a highly renewable resource compared to traditional hardwoods. Its
cultivation also helps reduce soil erosion and absorbs more carbon dioxide

MAKKO POWDER
 Burns Cleanly: When used in incense, Makko powder helps the incense to burn cleanly
and evenly without producing excessive smoke or residue. This contributes to a more
pleasant and less irritating experience.
 Aromatic Enhancement: Although Makko powder itself is not strongly aromatic, it
enhances the overall fragrance profile of the incense by ensuring a more consistent and
controlled burn. This allows the essential oils and fragrances in the incense to be released
more effectively.
 Natural Binder for Incense: Makko powder is highly valued in traditional incense
making because it acts as a binder, helping to hold the incense materials together and
ensuring they burn evenly. This makes it essential for creating high-quality, handmade
incense.
 Eco-Friendly: Being a natural product derived from tree bark, Makko powder is an
environmentally friendly option compared to synthetic binders or additives. Its use
supports traditional, sustainable practices.
 Traditional Use: In addition to its use in incense, Makko powder has been used in
traditional Japanese practices for its cultural and spiritual significance. It plays a role in
ceremonies and rituals where natural and traditional materials are preferred.
 Non-Toxic: Makko powder is a natural, non-toxic product, making it a safer choice for
those who prefer to avoid synthetic chemicals in their incense or craft products.

ROSE WATER
 Mood Enhancer: The gentle fragrance of rose water can have a calming effect on the
mind and body, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. It’s often used in aromatherapy for
this reason.
 Refreshing: Its aromatic properties provide a refreshing sensation

PROCEDURE
Prepare Ingredients:

1. Grind Aromatic Materials: If using whole herbs, spices, or resins, grind them
into a fine powder. You can use a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

2. In a bowl, combine your aromatic powders with a binding agent like Makko
powder. Typically, the ratio is about 1 part aromatic powders to 1 part binder.
3. If using sandalwood powder or charcoal powder, mix it in with the dry
ingredients. This is optional but can help with the burning quality.

Add Liquid:

4. Gradually add water [rose water]to the dry mixture, a little at a time, while mixing.
The goal is to achieve a dough-like consistency that holds together but is not too wet.

5. You can also add essential oils at this stage for a more intense fragrance. Adjust the amount
based on your preference.

Shape the Mixture:

6. Take small amounts of the mixture and press it onto the bamboo sticks or pre-made
incense sticks. Ensure an even coating, and smooth it out to form a consistent layer
around the stick.
7. Alternatively, you can roll the dough into thin cylinders and then cut them into
sticks, but this method is less common.

Dry the Incense Sticks:

8. Place the coated sticks in a well-ventilated area to dry. This can take several days
depending on the humidity and temperature. Make sure they are spaced out to allow
air circulation.
9. Turn the sticks occasionally to ensure even drying and prevent warping.

Storage:

 Once completely dry, store the incense sticks in an airtight container to preserve their
fragrance and prevent them from absorbing moisture.

NOTE
Tips:
 Experiment with Scents: Try different combinations of essential oils, resins, and herbs
to create unique blends.
 Safety First: Make sure to work in a well-ventilated area, especially if using charcoal
powder or strong essential oils.
