Safety & Trust: Code of conduct for

Massage Therapists
The Elements Massage® brand is dedicated to the consistent demonstration of professional and
ethical standards of the practice of massage therapy. The success of Elements Massage studios
and the advancement of the profession of massage therapy depends on this commitment.

To ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all clients, members and employees, Elements
Massage studio therapists must agree to and demonstrate the following:
• Adhere to all the studio’s policies, procedures and protocols.
• Always provide the highest quality service including listening to the client's needs when
performing a massage.
• Practice safe draping of every client.
• Maintain a professional therapeutic relationship with clients.
• Work safely and within the scope of practice within the massage therapy state licensure.
• Act professionally and within the bounds of my authorization when using any/all forms
of social media (without limiting any legally protected rights).
• Always maintain client privacy and confidentiality with any personal information.
• Respect the diversity of the studio and its employees and clients.

I will always refrain from engaging in any of the following behavior:


• Any contact with a client which violates this Code of Conduct.
• Any physical contact which a client that is inconsistent with the boundaries expressed by
the client.
• Any sexual conversation or action in the presence of a team member or client.
• Unsafe draping which exposes private body parts.
• Being present in a treatment room with a client who is unclothed and not protected by a
drape.
• Any discriminatory or harassing behavior in the presence of or toward a client or team
member.
• Any unethical or unprofessional behavior in the presence of clients and team members.
• Entering into an inappropriate personal relationship with a client which goes beyond the
therapeutic relationship of providing professional services.
• Being in possession of and/or using a cell phone at any time in a treatment room.
• Having less than both feet on the floor at all times when providing therapeutic massage
in a treatment room.
• Removing any supplies or property from the studio without the permission of the owner.
