Summary:

Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead is Eric Ruth's tribute to both the

days of retro gaming and Valve's award winning FPS franchise.
This de-make was developed with one particular question in
mind: "What would Left 4 Dead have been like on the Nintendo
Entertainment System?" I tackled that question full force
by creating this title and releasing it for free to the
masses on January 4th, 2010.

Controls:

Player 1

Up W
Down S

Player 2

*NOTE* If you are playing this on a lap top that does NOT
have a numpad, the 2nd player will not work. You CAN,
however, plug in a USB keyboard or a USB numpad to remedy
the problem.
Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Is this a standalone PC game or an NES rom?

A: This title is a standalone PC game. It comes as an .exe

file with no installation neccessary. Jus double click and
play.

Q: Why is this only 2 player and not 4 player?

A: Back in 1986, games were generally 2 player...not 4. Yes,

the system could handle it, and yes, 4 player games existed,
but they were extremely uncommon. If this game had been done
back then, realistically speaking, it would have most likely
been done as a 2 player title. Thus, the game is a local
multiplayer game topping off at only 2 players.

Q: So you can't play 4 player online?

A: The NES did not have any internet online games way back
when. Also, see the above question for further info.

Q: Why does the shotgun only use 3 ammo when its firing 4 bullets?

A: The number of ammo it uses was defined to balance the weapon in

comparison to your other gun choices. Using only 1 was too little
and 4 was too much.

Q: "Left 2 Die!!!!1 Mhvbfoefbhsdakqwjvf!!!!!!!111"

A: No.

Q: What about Versus Mode and Survival Mode?

A: They are not present in this de-make because of 1980's accuracy.

That's just not something you would have seen from a regular 'ol
NES game in the old days.

Q: Are Valve gonna sue you?

A: God, I hope not. But I've been informed that they know about
this project and have yet to contact me in any way...positively
or negatively. So, no cease and desist yet.

Q: What happens if I find a bug/problem?

A: I will happily take bug reports! Send me an e-mail to:

[email protected] with information about where the bug
happened, on what stage and with what characters/objects. I've put
a lot of time in to trying to make the game as "perfect" as possible,
but I'm just human and frankly, I'm not that great a programmer. I
will address the issue and release updates as needed.

Q: Can I contact you if I have questions about the game?

A: yes, you can, but PLEASE read this "read me" first to make sure
your questions are not answered somewhere within its text. If you
can't find the answer, then yes, go ahead and contact me.

Soundtrack:

I use Reason 4 to compose all of my 8-bit music. The Title theme,

Tank song, Safehouse music, and Death theme were all composed to
sound similar to their original counterparts. The stage songs
are original compositions writen and tracked by Eric Ruth (as DJ Potatoe)

System Requirements:

Windows ME/2000 or higher
